Kitchen Cabinets Online?
I'm looking to put in an island with bar I'm the basement. I do the need anything fancy, it's for the basement.
Ideally a sink base and a standard 2 door base.
I don't want to break the bank, nothing on Facbook Marketplace.
Is there anywhere online that has cheap kitchen cabinetry? I figure I'd check the CP Braintrust before I get annoyed and just buy from a local hardware store that has what I need in stock.

It was a few years ago now, I bought two base cabinets from Ikea to make a small island for the inlaws cabin. Not sure they are still the best price though.

Ikea was my first thought as well.
MY parents built a guest suite with Ikea cabinets. They look really good and they weren't crazy expensive.
Also, a big deal for me personally, you can see them in person so you know what you are getting.

IKEA has great quality for the price. Nobody can beat their price for their quality.

If IKEA doesn't do the trick try Wayfair.ca I guess.

I was just at Restore, always different stuff but might be worth taking a look. They did have a nice bathroom vanity with quartz countertop last time I was in. You might be able to find a cabinet base you like, and match it elsewhere with a counter and sink.

I wouldn't rule out getting a quote for a custom cabinet. Knowing what I know now, I've been surprised several times for a quote for cabinets.
Don't get me wrong, you'll most likely still pay 10-40% more, but you'll get more as well which might make the value really worth considering (occasionally, including the time and labour of the actual install). You might still end up going with your original plan, but at least you'd know the difference and gap between those two options.
Also, cutting into something for wiring and plumbing could create long term structural problems if not done well. It's a little different than just a basic table or shelf.

We used Ikea when putting a suite in our basement and they were great. The custom guy I got a quote from said he even buys Ikea boxes for standard sizes for his custom installs, he can't even buy the materials for the cost of an Ikea box let alone manufacture a box and the quality is fine for that.

Ugh, I've been happy with maybe one of the 5-6 things I've ordered from Wayfair. I got a nice occasional cabinet from them and within a week the wood surfaces all started to split. They sent a replacement, same thing. Must have been made in a jungle.
I'm sure there's decent stuff there but trying to weed through the drek to find it isn't something that I've figured out how to do yet.

We are also using Ikea for at least the boxes but maybe everything for a kitchen remodel. Who cares where the box comes from as long as it ... boxes. You can get different doors that are meant to go on Ikea boxes but not sure if we are doing that.
Also, Ikea appliances are made by Electrolux, apparently. The more you know.

Oh interesting, my induction range is an Electrolux. We've had it quite a long time and have only had to repair it once, been pretty reliable. At the time it was the only sub 5000 induction slide in range available.

I've had pretty good luck with Wayfair. Mostly stick with good reviews (with lots of reviews) and only get solid wood. Can't speak for the kitchen cabinets, though.

I had a great experience with https://www.canadakitchens.ca/ when I renovated my kitchen. Similar to IKEA, as they come flat packed and you build them yourself, but better quality with solid wood frames and dovetail joints. I think they were ~20% more than IKEA.

It looks like they only sell to dealers? Did you do it through someone else, or am I missing something on their website? Looks like good stuff.

I believe they manufacture out of Edmonton and ship to everyone.

The bolded isn't necessarily better, just a different style. Personally I'm not a huge fan of face frame cabinets either in terms of style or function. Similarly, wooden drawers are OK, but I prefer IKEA's Blum Tandembox drawers. But obviously that's mostly a matter of taste. And the integrated toekick in those cabinets would be more annoying to install vs. the leveling legs on IKEA cabinets (or a ladder-style plywood toekick if you really want to overbuild).
As for OP, if you want pretty high quality for a reasonable cost, IKEA is going to be your best bet, at least for the boxes and hardware. I've installed a bunch of them and you really can't beat them for the price. The doors and drawer fronts aren't the most amazing, but for a basement they'll be more than good enough. And if you want to splurge on the latter, there are lots of places that offer upgraded fronts sized for IKEA cabinets.

Yeah, the boxes and hardware really are unbeatable in terms of value. The kitchens in my last couple of houses have been IKEA boxes and drawers with custom doors, drawer fronts, and panels that I've made. Even if you're paying someone else to make the fronts, it's a much cheaper way to get a custom looking kitchen.

Fair enough. I do prefer the look of the wood interiors. I actually planned and priced out everything from IKEA, but when I went to order it was a 9 month wait during COVID.

I just walked into their showroom up north. I had a very small order, but they were happy to help.
