Gave you 15th overall last year in a stronger draft and Strome has improved since then, averaging a career year in a shortened season.

He hasn’t improved so much to warrant a first 8 spots higher and another first
I mean you could have at least tossed him a second or something to make it at least not as bad as it is

26 year old 74OV player deserves a nice return and will likely rate up.

No it's an unfair deal. It happens but it's why we've had to vote on deals for new GMs to avoid this stuff that erodes that assets that new GMs have to work with.
If we had voted on this one I'm confident that it would have been voted down by a huge degree.

I think Strome is a solid young player and his CPHL and NHL stats say he is. The Oilers pick next year is likely close to a 2nd..
Respect your opinion but I don’t need a lecture from you.

My opinion is that SJ wins the trade but it's not crazy lopsided, Fla gm is making moves to be competitive unlike the previous Florida GM's during my short tenure.

Not lecturing. I find it irritating when veteran Gms take advantage of new ones and won't even admit that's what they did.
It's bad for the league in the long run. It erodes the asset bases of these franchises and then makes it tougher to find new GMs.
It would be nice if veteran Gms, as many do, tried to be fair in their approach. Or if they aren't sure if a deal is fair suggest they run it by someone else to check.
It's better for the league in the long run if we don't' view new GMs as fresh meat to be taken to the cleaners.
If you think that's a lecture I don't care.

We have a difference of opinion, I wouldn’t take less for Strome, I would have kept him if that’s the case.
Really coming across like sour grapes Grant.

It's not sour grapes Dave. I made the same point when Ravi took St. Louis to the cleaners last year. I would not have made that deal if given the opportunity because I would have viewed it as unfair.
My concerns are the long-term health of the league. This is a single deal but it's the type of deal that doesn't help the league. So maybe we'll just extend the voting process to be longer going forward.

Like I said we have a difference of opinion here, I think very highly of Strome, not sure what to tell you. You made your opinion very clear here.

Strome is an odd one. He is having a statistically great year, and should re-rate at the same or better, but he has been tied to Panarin's hip for the whole year, and I think we know who drives that line.
The odd thing for me is that Panarin just went for OV, and two 3rds had to be added.
IRL these two trades don't make a tonne of sense, but in SIM-land, maybe they do? I think that Pananin garnered less of a return than Strome did, but maybe not because of the wonkey draft year, and OV might just defeat the march of time over the next two years.
This is exactly why I'm waiting on the re-rates. I have no internal gauge of value right now.

How big did your eyes get when he said yes to that deal, Dave lol. Is Strome worth two 1sts? I don't think so but I guess a case could be made. I just hate seeing new guys trade away high picks. It is a recipe for disaster and we should maybe try better as a league to protect them from this kind of thing.
You're ruthless Dave!

Deal is one side for sure, Strome is awarded the benefit of playing with a superstar.

I was debating offering a 2nd for Strome. 2 1sts is quite the haul.

That's a fleecing, especially in the off season when deals can be had with cap crunches. With a strong re-rate Strome will need a big RFA deal.
