Got mine through Microsoft store. It took some time for it to move through the checkout process but finally completed.
I guess I will switch Xbox live to game pass for November 10. Did anyone see the auxiliary external hard drive in their travels? I’ll wait for the inevitable size increase prior to buying but just wondered if anyone saw them out there.

So they tossed us a curveball - traditional external drives won't work for Series X games, only for One/360/Original Xbox games.
For Series X games, you'll need the nvme expandable storage (which aren't available yet).

“You can continue to use your existing USB 3.1+ external hard drives on Xbox Series X and you can run Xbox One, 360 and OG Xbox games directly from the external USB HDD,” explains a Microsoft spokesperson. “Games optimized for Xbox Series X and the Velocity Architecture need to be run from the internal SSD or the Expandable Storage Drive.”

I guess that makes sense since the storage -> video memory transfer tech is such a big feature this time around and games are going to depend on it.. in theory anyway.

I ordered a Xbox Series X to be my game pass machine. I was thinking of just getting the Series S but I have a nice 4K TV so I though I might as well get the 4K machine. I skipped the last Xbox generation, so I have some Xbox exclusives to catch up on.

Yeah. Both consoles made huge leaps in storage performance this time around and both are proprietary, so the days of "I'll just swap to a larger internal drive" are dead.

I wouldn't call that really a curveball, this info has been out there for while. I remember because I have the 8TB game hub and was wondering how, if at all, I was still going to be able to use it.

Yeah, it will be the same price as external/expansion options for PS5. The only difference is there aren't any PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD's available that currently run fast enough to be used with the PS5, as far as I know.

I think I know the answer to this question, but you can you lay flat the ps5?
Not exactly going to work with my current setup if it's stand up only.

Both of these consoles are going to mess with my setup. I've resigned to having to stand them both on top of my A/V cabinet. The PS5 looks like it will be too wide on its side to sit in a regular A/V cabinet width.

Yes, you can set it up how ever you want. There's pictures of it both horizontal and vertical.

Jokes on you for assuming Elder Scrolls 6 was ever going to be done in time to be on the PS5 and not the PS6

The Walmart PS5 pre-order today is so lame they bundled in another controller and jacked the price $90. I simply don't want a $720 initial cost as I don't need the 2nd controller right away.
