Saw this on r/calgaryflames, apparently in an Athletic article about Czarnik:
Player A is Yanni Gourde, Player B is Czarnik.
Gourde just put up a 25G+39A season for Tampa.

I really like this signing by Treliving to shore up our bottom 6.

Czarnik says he met with the Flames in Detroit on Tuesday. Also met with the Leafs.
Knows Jankowski and Gillies from playing them in college.

Flames drew up some reports on where he could potentially play in the lineup but he isn't going to share them.
Says the Flames called Boston at the trade deadline about him.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames didn't just call to show interest in RW Austin Czarnik. Brad Treliving and Bill Peters travelled to Michigan for dinner with the 25-year-old. Czarnik: "It shows that they really care and want to be a part of my career and the next chapter of my life."

Didn't realize that Czarnik was the 3rd best scorer in the AHL last season. Pretty impressive.

I'm not rushing out to get a jersey or anything, but I could see this being a great grab this year or next. Only struggle may be finding him some linemates.

The more I look at this signing the more I like it. Bruins fans really liked him.

I think he becomes our Johnson/Marchessault. Really excited for this signing.

I'm wondering why Boston didn't try to get him resigned. He was the 3rd best scorer in the A and you don't try and sign him or you don't at least trade his rights at the deadline if you no your not going to keep him .I find it strange

I’d like to see Tkachuk on top line. Lindholm with Backlund and Czarnik with Bennett and Jankiwski.
Each line has a player who can control the puck, get clean entries and get to work. I thought they were missing one more dynamic player and if this kids can play that role you’ve got three lines that should be able to score in a myriad of ways - the most important (and pleasing to me) way being off the rush.
That ability to hold the puck dangle and beat a defender one on one creates a lot of space - the D backs off you attack with possession and they chase after you creating high quality chances.
A nice set up for the lines with defined roles and then you can mix and match on specialty teams.
Could be very promising.

Who says they didn’t? Sometimes players want to test the market.

Everything I read was about opportunity, and who could blame him for that.
Bruins are deep as can be at position. Flames not so much...

Boston was one of the best teams in the league last year. I had them winning the cup on my bracket. Why would they have traded away depth?
And Boston did try to re-sign him but probably knew he wanted a bigger opportunity. There were reports ~20 teams contacted him prior to today. Calgary just (rightfully) saw the biggest fit as they had alluded to trying to find the next William Karlsson/Jonathan Marchessault and Czarnik happens to be a RHS RW(/C) which we also lacked.
