The Flyers completed 2 separate trades today:
Philly and Colorado hooked up for a fairly easy trade chat and, after minimal back and forths, worked out the following:
To Philly:
Lindholm
Kapanen
100k in cheese
To Colorado:
Vrana
Schwartz
2020 2nd (PHI)
Oscar Dansk
Brendan Perlini
We're tired of losing to the Devils in the post season. We want the cup and made significant upgrades to our wingers in an effort to achieve that goal.
When healthy, our forward group now looks something like this:
Matt Duchene 74 - Auston Matthews 76 - Elias Lindholm 76
Brayden Schenn 72 - Nicklas Backstrom 74 - TJ Oshie 73
Patrik Laine 72 - Kevin Hayes 74 - Kasperi Kapanen 72
Nikolaj Ehlers 69 - Brad Richardson 69 - Jake Virtanen 68
Vrana and Lindholm are basically a wash. Both should have a similar rating next year. Vrana is 2 years younger but Lindholm plays C/RW. He's no Andersson but I get a Flame not name Frolik on my roster.
Although currently and oft-injured, Schwartz is due for a nice ratings increase next year and his 2 remaining years at $3.50 should be an amazing value for the Avs. I hated that part of this trade.
I'm not a fan of giving up the 2nd in a deep draft or Dansk, who I still think will turn into a stud, but it needed to be done. We're really happy to see what the new line up can do. A large reason for wanting this trade may or may not have been to be able to write that thread title and scare the crap out of the average CP reader.
Thanks to Pat for the super easy and very fair negotiations.

Later that same day, GMJD made one more move to help boost the back end for what we hope is a long playoff run.
To Philly:
Brayden Holtby
To LA:
Chase Priskie
Casey DeSmith
2020 3rd (NYR)
This gives up a 4 point increase in the back up and hopefully a better fighting chance if/when Vas gets fatigued and needs a rest. Last year, that exact scenario happened and we lost the series to the Devils after having to start Bernier in game 6. I want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

Knock knock:
Who's there?
Casey DeSmith
Who?
A goalie who, at 83ov, is rated higher than 11 of the 16 backups currently in a playoff position. Don't want him next year? Send him to the minors and he'll be a super easy buy out at 1 x $0.75
and he could help you lots
this off season.
