A question I've been wondering - are emails sent to Councillors at their calgary.ca account subject to FOIP requests?

LOL.
Two more people listed on Magliocca's expense claims have stated they have never met him. Brings the number to 10.
What exactly was he doing on his tax payer paid trip to Quebec? Other than eating and drinking, and who was he with?
I also get a kick out of his claims of a clerical error. You know it's bad when he thinks it's better to look too incompetent and stupid to remember who he met, sat, ate and drank with.
And why exactly hasn't the city started the process of removing the integrity commissioner? The guy clearly hasn't got a clue what integrity is, stating having lunch with and paid for by someone he may very well have to investigate one day isn't a bad idea. The fact he expensed it was. come on!

I hope this starts a house cleaning of poor city politicians. we deserve better.
2021 can't come soon enough for me.

Something tells me the Herald does not FOI all expenses all the time.

Have a feeling this is following the script. Someone in City Hall who isn’t a fan of Joe or the Chu Crew called the Herald with a tip. Could be anyone but my guess is someone mid ranking who is in the city hall machine somewhere.

All just a guess. Point is guys like Joe dig their own grave. Sloppy entitled arrogant people who feel they are smarter than everyone else.

I Have seen it happen many times.

I voted for Joe, met him in person, and liked him but he's gotta go. There has to be consequences for blatant misuse of taxpayer money.

I think it’s quite clear Magoliocca has flat out lied several times, and should be immediately removed. I can’t imagine how quickly a City employee would be out the door for lying about expenses.

Very quickly. They're held to - in my opinion - impossibly high standards when it comes to expenses and entertainment that gets in the way more than helps. Somehow, Councillors have avoided this level of scrutiny that City employees have been under for years.

Is this legit?

Page 9 of the report has Calgary running a 1.4B surplus for 2018.

I voted for him too, but I'm totally in agreement. Guy has to go. Small actions show a lot about the character of the person. If the guy was willing to do that for stuff like meals, it means he's prime for other shady stuff if it ever comes up.

Or he’s already done so but not been caught (yet).

Let's have a look at the demographic supporting Jeromy Farkas.

https://twitter.com/JeromyYYC/status...97791855190018

Why have a vision for the future of the city when your base won't be around to see it?

Also, how do I embed tweets? I'm struggling to figure it out.

Remove the asterix. You just need the string of numbers from the tweet.

I try to get to about one of these a quarter. I'm 50, and my attendance brings the average age down significantly. The whooping and catcalling when he makes snide remarks about Nenshi is great fun. And the random shouts that he should run for mayor. Of course they all start with the anthem, where I loudly chime in with the new lyrics and get a few dirty looks.

He takes written questions, so at the last one I asked what he would do to attract a crowd that is more representative of the demographics of his ward. Still waiting for a response.

If I can detach myself from it, it is all quite something to watch. He is so smooth and has obviously prepared his talking points and messaging. The thing about guys like Farkas that rubs me the wrong way is he was groomed for this by the campus PC/Manning centre track (another option seems to be the CTF) to be nothing but a cynical career politician.

Council voted 14-0 to look into Magliocca's expenses this morning:

https://livewirecalgary.com/2020/02/...e-is-isolated/

Quote:
The expenses of Ward 2 Coun. Joe Magliocca will undergo a forensic investigation overseen by Calgary’s City Auditor’s Office, and all city council expenses will also be reviewed.

The auditor’s office will also look at ways to verify expenses at the ward level and whether there are systemic issues with reporting expenses.

He's trying to get ahead of things, as he's already apologized and has posted all his expense receipts since 2017....

...with the caveat that he's paid back all alcohol and hosting expenses in that apparently. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...vote-1.5473616

Put it's leaving a lot of questions by reporters who are digging into his expenses...the second link, sorry I'm on phone and not sure how to show, illustrates a large expense of mostly alcoholic drinks?

https://twitter.com/CBCScott/status/...687111681?s=19
Lots to review in Magliocca’s expenses that he has now posted. Like this $546 staff Christmas party in 2017. #yyccc https://t.co/g5UvTjzjvw

Some expense receipts in the Magliocca files posted today do seem to require more explanation to understand context. https://t.co/f5sG9CSlQ6

Seriously though, why are we wasting time and money to do a ‘forensic investigation’ of expenses? Unless it would be to pursue criminal charges, which I doubt would be the case, it’s all a giant waste.
Guy lied, multiple times. Get out, leave your pension at the door.
