Dylan DeMelo is one of the more unheralded middle defensemen in the league right now. That said, why are the Jets doing this? They have little chance of making the playoffs and he is unrestricted at the end of the season. If they re-sign him then a third-round pick for a 27-year-old second-pairing defensemen is obviously a terrific price, but that's a gamble.
Weird move.
