OT: Cool story on Kris Versteeg in the Athletic
i know that not everyone has a subscription, but they ran a cool story on Versteeg and how he's back playing. Finally feeling 100% again he played a bit in Sweden and did well enough to get signed to an AHL contract with the Blackhawks while putting a career in broadcasting on the backburner.
a couple of qoutes
Quote:
For some athletes in the twilight of their careers, TV can be a lifeline, a way to stay tangentially connected to the game that’s defined their entire lives. For Versteeg, it was different. He liked it. And he was good at it.

And yet, to see him flying around the rink in the opening days of training camp, it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine him donning a Blackhawks jersey at some point for the third time in his career.

Cool to read - Always liked Versteeg. it would be awesome to see him be healthy enough to get another shot at the NHL.

Easily one of Treliving's best UFA signings

If he doesn't play hurt /get hurt in 2017, we probably make the playoffs, even with Gulutzan.

Just one of those guys you can't help but love. You just know he was a locker room favourite every stop of the way

Not only was he a gamer, slashing on puck drop in game 1 of the playoffs, but he also ditched the Oilers after a very successful PTO. Can’t help but love the guy. Wishing him nothing but the best.

Yeah, unless you consider Morrison "recent". They were talking about PTOs signing on different teams in the Canucks/Oilers game and for some reason they forgot Versteeg
