Huh. I ended up at the Vancouver page. There was no mention of the bathrooms being lighted. Guess in Van they get the full experience. I don’t know if that is good or bad. Can imagine some poor guy washing his hands in the urinal with a urinal puck.
How it works ?
Upon arrival in the lighted lounge, take your time and choose from a first-class menu rivaling some of Vancouver’s best restaurants.
When you’re ready, you’ll be led to your table in the dark dining room by a blind, or visually impaired server who has been trained to ensure your comfort at all times.
Once seated, you’ll have the opportunity to adjust to the darkness and truly give yourself to this extraordinary experience.
No light producing technologies are allowed in the dining room, including flashlights, cellphones, or luminous watches.
FAQ:
6. What if i need to make a call or go to the washrooms ?
You will call your guide server, and they will guide you .

I went to a similar place called O noir in montreal in 2005, it was a very cool and unique experience, so much so that I remember it 12 years later.

They have to cover their expenses as well. Most of these are owned by large commercial firms and when their property taxes are doubled they simply pass down the bill to the lessees. Now we have huge vacancy problems as many businesses are no longer profitable.

While I loved Catch (when Chef Groves was there) it didn't seem the same once he departed. Obviously something (or perhaps two places) will open up there, no way the Hyatt lets it sit empty as that just isn't good for image.

Not sure if this and Belvedere is a economic sign of the times or just a food scene passing them by.
Calgary has become very competitive since Catch opened. I haven't been there in 10 years since I last ate a bad meal there. Just way too many options out there these days.
I am sure someone will snag the spot and renew it.

Certainly not categorized under "fine dining", but I'm looking for some recommendations for family friendly Chinese buffet options on Christmas Eve, preferably in the SE.

We liked this at The Guild:
Prairie Paella
West Coast octopus and clams, housemade bacon, applewood-roasted chicken, smoked black barley, chickpeas, red rice

The wife is doing a Keto diet these days (no/low carbs, high fat) and her Birthday is coming up, anyone know of a good restaurant I could take her to where she wouldn't feel super guilty eating something?

Anyone venture into the Ale House that replaced The Smith yet?

I've been eating keto for 5 months now. It's surprisingly easy at most restaurants. I just have them sub out the carb items with more veggies usually.
If she likes steak, I'd hit up a steakhouse for sure.

A great birthday dinner would be the chateaubriand prepared table-side at Caesars (Willow Park) - it already comes with a lot of grilled vegies and hollandaise for the fat , and I am sure you can ask them to sub in extra veggies for the stuffed potato...

Great minds think alike! I went to Caesar's for my birthday. Had the large striploin with neptune though (shrimp, asparagus and hollandaise).
So F'ing good.

I have to try that sometime. We have fallen into the standard pattern - tableside Caesar, Chateaubriand and a bottle of Hess.
