Apparently there was quite a long anti-Obama rant in one of their catalogs .

My office is in a light industrial area. A little while ago I ran into our Canada Post mail lady so she handed me the mail. There was a catalog in there for something and I jokingly said, 'well, at least it's not a Uline catalog.' That made her snap and say 'I HATE Uline!!!' I just about died laughing while she ranted on for a bit.

About two months ago, we actually had a Uline Rep come by asking if we received the catalog, and I told him we only get multiple catalogs a month and that I hope we're not going to get multiple Sales Reps coming by now instead. He was kind of taken aback, apologized for the catalogs, then gave me a nice complimentary stack of post-it notes attached to a tiny little pallet.

We usually get about two to five catalogs a month. Staff started stacking them to use as monitor stands, but we still have more than we need. I started filling out the forms on the website to opt out of the mailings, but the interesting thing is that the catalogs addressed to staff stopped, but then we started receiving them addressed to people and companies that we've never heard of instead. Next time I'm checking the account numbers on them to see if they just changed the names/companies.

Our purchaser finally caved in and bought something from them to the tune of about $70. You'll never guess what was in the delivery too (Hint: another catalog).

So they’ve sent out 3 different catalogs within the past week.

Funny about the post lady.

Our other rant is this guys. For a couple of months we barely had any Amazon, and we were all so happy! Then it came back! Aaaargh.

Their contract with USPS expires in Oct. Their delivery people, both the gig people and the ones in the Amazon trucks were driving everywhere crazy with their misdeliveries. Hardy see them anymore. Who knows what Bezos is doing, besides the stuff you read.

Uline should have to plant their own forests for their catalogs.

There is a young lady that sings and plays the guitar at YEG. She is really good. I’ve seen her a few times now. I think she could be on one of the singing competition tv shows.

With fairly young kids, I sometimes wonder which of today's pleasures are going to be extinct by the time they hit my age. Like lawn darts are now. Motorcycles? Stick-shifts? Angus beef? Campfires? Manicured lawns? Golf? Fresh sushi? American football?

It sucks to be enjoying these things and wondering if they'll be gone someday sooner rather than later. I must watch too much dystopian fiction.

I don't think seeing a major decline and possible extinction of grass lawns is out of the question. When we start dealing with true fresh water crisis, lawn watering restrictions will be the first target.

And if people's lawns start looking like **** with no legal way to fix them they'll naturally start gravitating to alternatives (you're already seeing it a lot in the southern States).

Hell, you dont even need to go to the Southern States, I think even places like Kelowna have lawn watering rotation schedules where you're only allowed to water on certain days and some places offer tax incentives for water-less or maintenance-free lawns.

Anecdotally, 6 houses on my street this year have removed their lawns for large garden/mulch/rock garden space. They joined an existing 3 or 4. Saw another house starting it the other day. I noticed the same thing happening a lot in Willow Park in Calgary a couple years ago.

I like it. If I owned I would have done it already myself.

Yeah I think I’d do by back yard in clover if I wanted space to walk around on.

You’re the best!

What’s crazy about Florida is that so many cities/ subdivisions require lawns. I don’t get it. It’s well known that out freshwater supply is in jeopardy.

We do have a rainy season but we also have terrible droughts.

One year we were limited to once a week watering. But the hats next door, with their perfect emerald turf grass watered their damned lawn every day.
