While Godzilla 2019 looks great, it feels less authentic. It seems like the monsters can turn on a dime now. You can see that these are huge monsters, but you don't feel it the same way as in Godzilla 2014.

I'm always baffled at how anyone cold screw up a giant robot vs giant monsters movie. A 10 year old though would have a better chance of making it good because a 10 year old would put a boring plot featuring people in it.
Pacific Rim wasn't great, Pacific Rim 2 was atrocious.
Again, you shouldn't be able to screw something like this or a giant monster movie up. It should be impossible.

Went to see MIB International last night.
Although funny at times, it seemed like they were way over the top on the sarcastic humor part and really lacked the bombastic Tommy Lee Jones side. Tessa Thompson also couldnt pull off the new recruit thing, and poor acting aside, it was simply a BIG reach.
Id give it a 6 out of 10, wait for it to hit your small screens.

I saw Warrior recently and...
Wooo boy I got a new Top 3 sports movie. I don't even like MMA but Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, and Joel Edgerton are all flawless.
I cried multiple times and was blubbering like a baby at the end which personally is a sign of a GREAT SPORTS MOVIE!

Toy Story 4 was great, as expected, though it felt more like an epilogue to wrap things up for Woody specifically than a real ensemble thing. Most of the original characters are cooped up in an RV for the entire movie. Kid loved it, new characters were some of the best they’ve done and Bo Peep steals the movie.
And damn Pixar’s animation is unreal now. As far as environments and objects and everything go, they might as well be photo realistic.

Nolte should've won the Oscar for that relapse scene alone

He was also low-key hysterical in Tropic Thunder... most of the attention in that movie (rightly so) went to RDJ and the main cast. But Nolte played it straight up and kills every scene he's in.

I'm going to recommend whatever Bond 25 is named well in advance of knowing anything about it based on the incredible, brilliant Phoebe Waller-Bridge being one of the writers.
Waller-Bridge TV creations include the spectacular Fleabag (Amazon) and Killing Eve.
The female viewpoint she writes into everything she does is masterful, imo. And adds a feminist perspective that finally makes sense to this old dinosaur. She immediately shoots down the question, when asked about how she must relish the thought of updating Bond, and states Bond must stay true to his character : Bond is Bond. But she will give voice to the women in Bond, and I know that will be brilliant.
We need more female voices like hers, and her surprisingly refreshing take on nonesense like 'the best shows on TV created by women' lists, etc is perfect summed up in this short bit of dialogue in S02E03 of Fleabag
TLDR
Pheobe Waller-Bridge is a gem.

She was also the showrunner for the first season of Killing Eve, which was one of the best shows of 2018.

Dark Phoenix is just so bad. Nobody wanted to be in it and it shows. Probably the worst film in the franchise, well overdue for a reboot.

Toy Story 4 was good, the ending made me tear up. But at the same time I can’t help but realize that it’s pretty much an unnecessary film. Toy Story 3 rapped up everything perfectly. There really wasn’t a need to make this one despite it being enjoyable.

But I really do have to say that Woody has to have one of the best character arcs/development in film history. I’d put his up their with Tony Stark.

Just re-watched The Death of Stalin.
Seriously, if you haven't yet seen this, it's must a must-watch.

I'm a little obsessed with communist-era Russia lately. From this film to the Chernobyl mini-series, to the book I'm reading A Gentleman in Moscow, I can't seem to get enough. Endlessly fascinating.

I saw a video comparing the animation in Toy Story 1 to Toy Story 4.. It truly is shocking how far it's come.

I feel like any viewing of Blade Runner should be prefaced with a big Asterix unless noted which version was watched.
Ford's performance, while not amazing, is 100x worse in the theatrical cut because of his contractually obligated voiceover that Scott did not want in the film but Fox forced on the production. He literally sounds annoyed and pissed everytime it comes on.

I think it was the Directors Cut because it had the unicorn dream scene.

How do you not like Harrison Ford? I think you are the first person to ever dislike his acting. He's a treasure.

He is the best part of the original Star Wars trilogy (Han Solo is widely considered the best and most important Star Wars character) and Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the greatest films ever made. If Lucas got his wish and Tom Selleck gets that role it's very likely that film is not as revered as Ford totally nailed that character. Totally agree that he's a treasure.
