So every 15 years something happens then? 1989 --> 2004 --> 2019

He hasn’t started a thread in 24 hours. Now that we’ve decided on the third best goalie, it would be ridiculous to make a thread about who the fourth best goalie was. This is the next logical step. Tomorrow we can start talking about who the best 5th round pick was.

What happened in other years is completely irrelevant.
But apparently people prefer venting to useful discourse.

For sure I would love the Flames to have had more playoff success, but do people really ever remember teams that make it to the 2nd or 3rd round that often? Unless you're at least conference champs, teams who make it 2 or 3 rounds deep get forgotten along with the 1st round teams. So i guess in the grand scheme of things, it's a lot of meh from me.

We are 15 years removed from our last appearance in the Finals. 34 years removed from our Cup win.
This is about par for the course.
|
Whoa whoa whoa, pretty sure we are only 30 years removed front the cup win, as I was born in 89 and just turned 30 in January. Don’t make me older than I already feel.

Would we rather be San Jose? Lots of playoff success but 0 Stanley Cups?
I choose Calgary.

I'm ok with this. Back in the spring of 1989, I asked if I would take a Cup win if it meant the Flames would only get past the first round twice in 30 years. I said yes. My only problem is I don't know if last year completed the 30 year curse or if its this year.

1989: Flames win Stanley Cup. Since then, four playoff series wins in 30 years.
Great. Next year it will read five playoff series wins in 31 years. The current goaltender tandem are just not going to advance this team any further than that this season.

Yes, for those 3 that you listed. Don't forget it started in 1986.

It depends how you look at this trend. Don't forget it started in 1986 as SC Finalists, so it's not necessarily diminishing returns. It alternates back and forth.

Most teams in the NHL have a lame playoff history
Blues havent played in a Stanley Cup since 1968 I think
Leafs havent played in one since 1967
Poor Buffalo hasnt won one
Columbus in their 20 years have a garbage playoff history
Edmonton lives in the 80s cause theirs since have been a joke.

It's only par for the course if we basically win the Stanley Cup this year.
