Looking for the next show for the wife and I to watch together. We typically like shows like blacklist, criminal minds, law and order:svu, suits and bones. Right now we are watching castle and swat.
Any suggestions of good shows along those lines would be appreciated. TIA

There was this one Crime Scene Investigator Forensics show one time. That was pretty good.
"Quincy M.E."

Maybe not along those lines, but 1923 is really good. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are both great in it.
It's got a lot of different story threads going on, but there is a good mix of action and romance. Makes it a great couples show.
I'd say out of the three series set in that world it's far and away the best and also most grounded feeling if that makes sense. I always describe Yellowstone as Dallas meets Sons of Anarchy.
But 1923 just feels different, stands on its own.

The thing about 1923 is that the season just ends. The last episode does not feel like the season ending, it just felt like another episode.

1923 is good, but I felt 1883 was the superior of the two. At least so far; 1923 will have a second season.
1883 was such a pure departure from the Yellowstone franchise, and it was just magnificently beautiful filmmaking from story to cinematography. 1923 is still more grounded and gritty than Yellowstone, but I find it flirts with the cheesiness and simple storytelling of the original series. To say it less pretentiously, 1923 is more digestible with a broader appeal.
On another note, I swear the characters in this franchise could fall in love with a glass of water.

I love police procedurals.
Bosch is fantastic, highly recommend that. If you have not seen The Wire it is also a great one but much heavier. Rizolli and Isles is not bad, along with Rookie Blue. Blindspot is also something you could check out, would be closer to Blacklist than the cop shows.
If you like British shows Luther and Line of Duty are a great watch. So is Sherlock.
Reacher is similar but not a police procedural but it was fantastic.
If you are at all interested in some fantasy along with the police show Grimm was entertaining.
EDIT: it you like Nate Fillion in Castle check out The Rookie.

I watched Black Bird over the weekend (Apple TV) and really enjoyed it. Paul Walter Hauser was excellent.
I was also surprised how closely it stuck to the actual events

My biggest issues with 1883(and carried over into 1923) is that stupid melodramatic voice over. Totally unnecessary, the show would have been much better without it. Every time she prattled on about how hard things were overemphasizing her "w's" I just had to roll my eyes. Just cliche after cliche of meaningless blabbering. Other than that they were pretty good shows. Well, I still have two 1923's to get through. But definitely less forced drama than Yellowstone.

Along with all the other suggestions, I would throw a recommendation to Justified. All seasons available on Prime.

Yellowstone and all the spinoffs aren't good TV.

I think you can chuck The Shield in there as well.

It has highs and lows, like The Wire, but I enjoyed it.

If you haven't seen True Detective season 1, then move it to the top of the list. Best thing ever put on television. It is R rated, so be ready for that.
If you like the spy genre, give The Night Manager a watch. Also incredible and just a mini series.
I would also echo the previous recommendations for Luther. Based on your tastes, I'd bet you'll love it.
Maybe The Americans too? Also more spy genre, but is is excellent.

We watched the first episode of Sullivan's Crossing, a sappy Canadian produced drama based off the novel series by Robyn Carr, who wrote the books one of my wife's other favorite shows is based off (Virgin River). A neurosurgeon gets in to some legal trouble and moves back to the Nova Scotia camp community she grew up in to re-discover herself.
I wouldn't recommend it, but got me some major brownie points for throwing on the other night. If you can't beat 'em...

Not quite the same caliber but also very good.
You may also like the re-boot of Perry Mason on HBO with the guy from The Americans.

I hope it gets better, my wife wants to watch it because it was made in Nova Scotia. It's pretty bad, and way too many scenes with music playing and really nothing going on of note.
