Oh he knows all right.
He sees the answer to that question every time he looks in the mirror.

People assume the answer is Tortorella but if that is true then doesn't that raise red flags for anybody else.
Tortorella can be hard to deal with for sure but I don't think he's been unfair to Dubois. Dubois has gotten strong top 6 minutes with strong linemates during his time with Torts, it's not like Torts has been burying him the bottom 6.
So if the issue is that Torts called him out for his play and for not giving enough craps defensively then I'm not really sure that warrants demanding a trade.
Honestly would have been if like Iggy demanded a trade in 2006 because Sutter had called him out publicly in the 2004 playoffs and was mean to the team in the dressing room.

The Flames do have a nice little break here coming up next week that would lessen the amount of games missed due to quarantining if a trade were to take place...

I pointed this out earlier. Super odd 5 day break pops up out of nowhere for us...

If I am Columbus (knowing Tkachuk is off the table) I would be asking for Lindholm and if the deal is one for one the Flames have to consider it (even though Lindholm likely played a part in getting us Markstrom).
I prefer to go the Monahan route but wouldn’t be shocked if Columbus was on his 10 team list.
Johnny doesn’t make a ton of sense for Columbus either because of all their star players walking when they get the chance.
From a Flames perspective Monahan+ makes the most sense but if I am the Jackets I am pushing for Lindholm.

You would obviously move Lindholm back to RW.

Don't underestimate the Habs in any potential trade deals. A potential franchise centreman who's francophone? They'd overpay for sure.
If I were Columbus, I'd ask for Suzuki + a 1st.

Yup if there was say a deal around Johnny. Let’s just say Gaudreau+Bennett+2nd then the lines would look like this imo
Tkachuk-Dubois-Lindholm
Dube-Monahan-Mangiapane
Simon-Backlund-Leivo
Lucic-Ryan-Nordstrom
Good top 6 and great center depth

No one knows for sure...but we have no idea what Torts has done or said to PLD.
Torts has a long history of alienating players and just as long a history of guys who love to play for him.
Everyone is different so i wouldnt read a whole lot into wanting out of CBJ as being a red flag moving forward. He is hardly the first guy to do so.

If you read HF Habs fans would want the Jackets to add if Suzuki is on the table. I didn’t realize he was a future 100pt center?
They think Suzuki and Romanov are off limits

No forks given on why he wants out, just excited that we have a chance at him. If it's because if Torts, awesome.
All I know is guys like this never become available.
Acquiring him would set this team up for years.
This is exactly the bold move the Flames need to become a legit contender.

Brian Sutter called out Iginla too. Honestly, that is what players need sometimes.
I recall reading about Martin St. Louis going to Tampa and not getting along with Torts at first, but also credited him for making him a better and more motivated player.

Wow, would love it if the Flames could make something happen to pick up Dubois. I would be fine with a package around Johnny or Monahan. Not interested in losing Lindholm.

Interesting scenario: Gaudreau for Dubois as the basis, Monahan for Huberdeau as the basis. Creates a little francophone core for Pelletier too.
Honestly though I'm getting pretty jazzed up for this season and am now wanting to see if Gaudreau-Monahan just had an aberrant season last year.

The Ottawa media has been speculating pretty hard that they may be in the running as well, but nothing as far actual rumours go. I could totally see them landing him though.

Lets be honest. He's not coming to the Flames. Either the Rangers, Boston, or Tampa are gonna get him somehow, because of course they do. They always do.
