Hmmm, competition for Rene Paredes?!?

The Calgary Stampeders have added national kicker David Deschamps to the practice roster.

Deschamps played defensive back in addition to playing on kick cover teams and doing some kicking for the Universite de Montreal. In regular-season action, he was nine for 12 on field goals over his career with the Carabins and he was 12-for-12 on extra points. He was seven-for-seven on field goals in post-season play.

Weird.

Paredes has been lights out on FG as usual this season. Yeah yeah he has missed a few converts, which seems to be a bit of a problem for him for some reason, but so what?

His main job is FG and he has been so very good at it since dawning the red and white.

Maybe he is battling a minor injury?

Yup, looks that way:

“Rene (Paredes) tweaked his hamstring so Deschamps provides some insurance for us in case Rene has to miss some action... 1/2

2/2...But this is a kid we wanted to look at anyway.” - Stamps head coach Dave Dickenson

Paredes was on the table having his hamstring massaged on the sidelines in the 4th quarter of the Lions game.

No Messam this week against Montreal (he had some fluid drained from his knee) and with the bye week coming up after the game against the Als, it's a good time to get some rest.

If any Stamps fan here wants my two tickets to the game tomorrow shoot me a PM. Not going to be able to use them. I can email transfer them to you. Doesn't appear to be an option to donate them to charity on my Stamps account website.

Have they ever said how long Daniels is out? Hopefully Jorden will be back after the bye.

DD seems to believe the ankle injury that Finch suffered is not that serious:

When Stamps kick returner Roy Finch left the game with an ankle injury Friday, it was one worrisome piece of scary news amid an otherwise spectacular night.

Fortunately, head coach Dave Dickenson seemed to believe afterwards that the injury wasn't too serious, meaning the Stampeders should have their dangerous returner back in the lineup soon.

Will he be back right after the bye-week? That's unclear, but if Tunde Adeleke needs to fill-in for a while, there are worse options to have running back kicks. He scored his second punt-return touchdown of the year on Friday, after all.

But the Stamps need Finch, and his recovery will be closely monitored in the coming weeks.
