Does this still belong here even though Eberle isn't an Oiler anymore?

Ah, weddings. A time to celebrate the joining of a happy couple in matrimony. A time to reconnect with old friends. A time to sing loudly and terribly in celebration of an open bar.
The wedding of Jordan Eberle and Lauren Rodych appeared to have all of these elements, which might be bittersweet to see for Edmonton Oilers fans.
Eberle was traded to the New York Islanders in June after 507 games with the franchise. Among his wedding guests: Current Oilers like Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, as well as former Oiler and current New Jersey Devils star Taylor Hall.
They may not have won a Stanley Cup together. But damn if they can’t belt out “Wagon Wheel” at a wedding:

Is it not a coincidence that Eberle gets married after leaving the Oilers?

the 7 stages of Oilers grief for the 2017-2018 season. These stages should start on about Jan 1st when they're firmly out of a playoff spot

1) Shock - This wasn't supposed to happen, the cup is our destiny. I can't believe how much the NHL is screwing us. Talbot sucks. Draisaitl is way overpaid at $9 million. Thanks alot me $12 million dollar man.

2) Denial - I can't believe that I let this team of sucks take my money every year. Its unbearable watching all of these teams ahead of us and they don't have a McDavid. No way man, all Oiler fans agree, we have an awesome future. I can't believe that the Canucks are ahead of us.

3) Anger - F you Draisaitl F you Mr 9 million bucks. Screw you Chia, you can't win a trade to save your life and now we're in cap hell. Way to go $12 million dollar man, Maybe you can act like you give a crap. Nice job Talbot you fluky piece of garbage. Trade Nuge he's soft and he doesn't care. Quit screwing us NHL, every game you screw us.

4) Bargaining - Please god, if you let the Oilers be good again I promise not to be a over bearing arrogant jerk, I promise I won't go to opposition fan sites and pretend to be fans of their team while I post my passive aggressive BS.

5) Depression - (sniffling sound). We're done, we're finished, I guess outside of McDavid and Talbot, we're not that good, I can't believe we have Chia as our GM, we're going to be in cap hell and lose trades forever, and we have no prospect depth to help us out.

6) Testing - Its awesome we should get a great draft pick this year to add to Connor. Just think of the riches we'll get at the trade deadline when Chia starts trading the deadweight. At least I have the NFL.

7) Acceptance - Yeah, its not so bad, think about the draft party and the thrill of the lottery ball dropping and the gold card coming up. We're truly building something special up here.

Connor was invited in the hopes of a killer wedding present.

It seems a shame that I've wiped my ass with better 'Journalism' than that.

Its funny that his column is listed as "The Cult of Hockey."

It makes you wonder who is screwing with whom?

Cult indeed....

The kool-aid runs deep in that one. 100 points and a Stanley Cup appearance is the call. Unless McDavid scores 100+ points and Talbot is a Vezina winner, not a chance of either of those things happening. All the good things that went well for the Oilers last year - career seasons, unexpected production from role players, a soft schedule - aren't going to happen two years in a row. Not possible, even if McJesus walks on water and passes out loaves and fishes to the unwashed masses (emphasis on unwashed) in Edmonton.

I dont.

Look, the Oilers have an organizational history of handing out identical contracts.

Dr. Drai should get his 8 x $12.5.

Sigh, the things people say.
Oilers blow, so funny to see some of these fans here.
