I thought Kulak looked good tonight.

He skated very well and jumped up into the play and often sometimes looked like he was playing as a forward out there. He had a couple of good hits at the blue line .

I mentioned earlier he jumped into the play alot and often lead to him staying deep in the offensive zone acting as a foreward but his skating managed to get hom back in to postion when the play went down the ice

I think at this point there is little doubt that he os the 6th d going into the season.

He looked like a young Brodie almost.

Imo.

Lack looked terrible tonight. He's just not there.

Yeah, Carey Price in top form would've allowed at least 3 tonight. So... I disagree.

I get that 4 of the goals came on the powerplay, but an 85% save percentage is very poor, no matter how you put it.

For 2 of the goals, he allowed huge and juicy rebounds. The 1st and 3rd goals were simple shots from bad angles. Should have been easy saves with some proper lateral movement.
The 5th goal was a regular slapshot from far away. Lack was screened, but it was still quite savable.

Gillies looked a lot better in his games, in almost every aspect.
Agree, thankfully its preseason.

The book on Lack is shoot high blocker. Huge problem for him there and the Jets exploited it. Still not a fan of this signing. I liked the looks of Foo and Poirier up front and Andresson and Kulak on the blue line. Best Flame all night was Jankowski. Just did something good every shift. Time to get down to the final roster and get ready for the regular season.

Just watched the highlights and there are some bad, bad giveaways by the youngsters. That's what these games are for though, particularly this time in the preseason.

I reckon lack will want 2, maybe 3 of those back. Saying that, the rest of the highlights were pretty much him making saves, bailing out the defensive giveaways and on breakaways.

Oh wow, I thought he played really well....

Jets had total control of the game.

Lack kept it close...

Yup. How anyone can blame the goalie for that just blows my mind. He stopped multiple breakaways, and the Flames' PK couldn't do a damn thing.

Seriously, the PP goals were two Laine one timers (one on a rebound), a Scheifele one timer on a rebound in the slot, and a screened Byfuglien shot from the point. What do you want him to do?

Anyone who says "don''t give up a rebound", well, when you're giving open looks to guys like Scheifele, Laine, Byfuglien, Wheeler and Ehlers to crank shots on goal at 5 on 4, there aren't a lot of goalies who are going to be able to stop them and control the rebound. Win a loose puck once in a while.

Sooo why aren't we talking about that Money goal? That may have been the nicest goal I've seen him score. Who cares about Lack!

The only criticism I would have on Lack is that he got beat cleanly on shots that upper tier goaltenders could stop. Seeing he's the backup and saw a lot of rubber I think he was okay, not great.

He did try to jump in up ice a few times. But defensively he was bad. Jets were in behind him all night. He threw the puck away a lot (same as Bart and Wotherspoon). Not good in the corners or in front of the net.

Exhibition game philosophy...

The Flames iced their AHL team with a few NHLers thrown in.

Hard to tell more than the AHL team is not at all ready to compete with an NHL team.

The Flames defense looked awful including Stone and Bartkowski who are the incumbent #4 and #6 and will likely be 5/6 this year.

Does that prove anything? Stone and Bartkowski will get approximately 1 minutes on an icing call against the Jets top 2 lines in a real game.

Dano, Petan, Tanev and Connor were the Jets that were on the bubble.... They all looked to be better than than Lazar and Jankowski and Foo....BUT they were looking good playing against the Flames AHL defense. Lazar Foo and Jankowski were playing against 6 of the Flames top 8 and the Jets top 4 forwards.

2 exhibition games left.. Get ready for opening day like the Jets did last night or find out who might be able to step up from #6/7 defense and not be embarrassed by NHL top lines?

I didn't see the game but I just caught the highlights and man that was a SICK goal. Haven't had a chance to watch any games but that highlight alone gives me confidence that Mony isn't going to have a slow start.

That Laine pass I keep seeing on twitter was ridiculous. Monahan also had a nice goal I saw.

Agree 100%. Flames got outplayed badly. 5-2 was a flattering score.

The Flames had mostly young guys trying for a spot compared to the Jets icing most of their NHL roster, so not worried about this game at all.
