Bit disappointed there won't be a season 7, but with the Cas Anvar departure and time jump it isn't too surprising.
The writers are teasing that the IP might not be done after the 6th season so maybe the story will get a movie of some kind.

I figure they'll end up doing some like The Crown has done and cast different actors for a 2nd series to finish off the final books in the series.

I'm part way through Season 4. Chrisjen developed a real potty mouth since the middle of Season 3, and it seems a bit gratuitous now.

The switch to Amazon allowed them to make her choice of words much more faithful to the books.

Book writers give an interview about the last two seasons of the show and how the series will just be "paused" for that 30+ year time jump between the 6th and 7th seasons. Looks like they will not be adapting material from the last three books and trying to cram it into the last two seasons of the Amazon show.
Guessing if we see anything out of the last three book trilogy it will be as a spinoff or as stand alone movies with a different cast.
Quote:
"The sixth season of the show is not going to include material from books 7, 8, and 9," Abraham tells Inverse. "The sixth season of the show is based on the sixth book [Babylon Ashes] which has been out for three years. So, we don't have that issue. We're still way ahead in the books. If we do any televised material for books 7, 8, and 9, we'll never have any issues, because all the books will have been out for a while."
This doesn't mean that fans of the later books (which includes some massive time jumps) might not get hints of the events of books beyond what The Expanse is planning is translating into TV. When asked if there are any gestures toward future books, Shankar says, "Um...maybe. That might happen!"

Also some good news about future seasons, Alcon apparently was happy with the show (read. didn't lose money) and are committed to continuing the IP. Just not sure what that will look like yet
Quote:
“Alcon [Television Group] — our studio — is very committed to the IP,” Franck continued. “They have lots of plans. We’ll see what happens after that. But, we will have a satisfying story to the TV arc in the sixth season.”

Initial reviews of season 5 are astoundingly good. On track to beat the excellent season 3.
Quote:
It is also, in a word, excellent. The Expanse's fifth season is the best since its first, a long-awaited high-stakes payoff to several seasons' worth of setup. If you drifted away from the show during earlier seasons, like something accidentally dropped in microgravity, this new season makes it worth finding a way to come back.

The emotional stakes are high in The Expanse season 5, and although the action takes a few episodes to really kick in, once things shift into high gear, it’s full speed ahead. Even knowing that next season is the series’ final run can’t diminish the power of this year’s story, which outdoes its already excellent predecessors.

You'd have to think the Amos backstory would be front and centre in their minds.

I think he is the weakest link on the show - does not convey the gravitas of a great leader. All the other characters are great.

Was Holden ever supposed to be a great leader though? I always took it he was just a regular guy who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
But yea, he's not going be play a very convincing schemer/manipulator at court if there ever is any content past the season 6.

Holy smokes, did Amazon just take a dump truck full of money and drop it off at the VFX company this season? Gorgeous effects.

They musta spent a lot on the sets as well like ultra modern Luna, or the run down streets of Mars. Some settings are shown once too. I can't imagine them reusing the Indian space cowboy bar lol.
All in all, that extra Amazon budget's done wonders to make the show even more real. Really excited for the next few episodes w/ Amos after the incident(s).

Watched Ep 1 and 2 thus far and oh wow, you're not exaggerating at all...the set pieces are amazing. The shots of Luna base, Tyco station, just amazing.
Also the score of this season is on another level. Really chilling music.

Yeah, I noticed the score as well. Really channeling some musical cues of Hans Zimmer from Bladerunner 2049 and Interstellar, IMO.
I used to have a running joke with my wife about how good the set team was at whipping up 'sci-fi corridors', which were the hallmarks of the early season set direction (and are a relatively cheap way of building sets). But yeah, the set direction continues to get more ambitious with each season.
