My memory was that he said "sweep the knee". Fake memory I guess.

[just before Johnny fights Daniel in the tournament]
Kreese: Sweep the leg.
[Johnny stares at him in shock]
Kreese: Do you have a problem with that?
Johnny Lawrence: No, Sensei.
Kreese: No mercy.

I don't know if I trust that quote, the line came while he was having his nose looked at after Daniel smacked him. It was during the fight not before.

[Bobby is about to face Daniel in the semifinals]
Kreese: Bobby - I want him out of commission.
Bobby: But Sensei, I can beat this guy!
Kreese: I don't want him beat.
Bobby: But I'll be disqualified!
Kreese: [icily] Out of commission.

You know, if I was to redo my list of movie villains, Kreese would almost have to go in there somewhere.

As much as it had the whole feel good story of Danial and Myagi.

The end game redemption of Johnny.

Kreese was this incredibly complex villain, and maybe a victim as well.

We see the picture of him in soldiers gear, he was probably in Vietnam, and he was either that guy who gleefully machine gunned villages, or he was so traumatized by the whole thing that he became determined not to be weak or a victim again.

Who taught him Karate? Clearly someone taught him a perverted movie version of the philosophy.

I mean in the third movie he wasn't as good and the villains role was taken by a cardboard cut out of every villains cliche, the cackling laugh, the over the top yelling, the evil over the top overly complicated plan.

But Kreese in that first movie, was a great villain.

I hope they re-cast Mr. Miyagi with George Takei.

Oh god no, they need to do a running joke where they make Ice Cube Mr Myagi and never acknowledge that he's a different race.

After 30 years they can have a final confrontation between Daniel and Johnny

Myagi - "Use the Crane kick mother$$$$$$"

This stuff writes itself.

Went down an Internet rabbit hole reading about the original film, and I completely forgot that Pat Morita was nominated for an Oscar in 1985 for his performance as Miyagi.

Also came across this 1983 rehearsal for the movie.

So this isn't even like a netflix thing, its a you tube thing.

Interesting.

I can see where the roles have switched and Johnny is the underdog here and becomes the wise sensai and Daniel is the un-relenting jerk faced bully who's forgotten what he's learned.

And Johnny comes up with his own version of the Crane kick, its called the baseball bat to the swantz.

That new trailer is 1000x better than whatever that last thing was supposed to be. Still looks corny, but in a fun way.

Okay. It looks cheesy as all hell, but at least now that I can see that they are owning the cheese I can at least be on board with that.

That trailer was much, much better than the last one.

I can't waits for the inevitable fight where Daniel blows both groins trying to do the Crane Kick, and Johnny hits him with the sweet shin music

YouTube red? So we won’t be able to watch this in Canada without a subscription and American VPN?

Too bad Logan Paul got booted off Youtube. He was a natural for playing Johnny's son.
