I don't see why we'd deal Hanifin. He's a stud.

Terrible news for the kid's development too. Going to miss close to a full year of development in his prime.

He should recover but it's going to take time. Probably won't be 100% the whole year.

I think Valimaki and Kylington have more upside and I felt at least one would outplay Hanifin this year. At that point you can trade Hanifin (and his big contract) for a valuable RHS forward with term.

This injury puts a damper on that.

What's the typical recovery time? Google says 2-6 months.

Gotta feel for Valimaki - two times he looks close to being an NHL regular, then he has an injury pop up. Great opportunity for Kylington to prove he belongs, and basically keeps Brodie on the team to start the year - but if Kylington takes his shot and runs with it, may make him moveable during the season if the right deal comes along.

Essentially the remaining roster is a pretty simple equation:

Sign Tkachuk, Mangiapane
Trade Frolik

Either that, or use some magical powers to get Tkachuk signed to a sweetheart deal.

We are now probably at the point of adding a sweetner to move Frolik - either a pick or a second tier prospect (e.g. add Gillies for a team looking for a goalie prospect)

I guess good for Valiev, Kylington and Davidson.

What is Juuso doing in the offseason to be tearing ACLs? Take it easy sir.

I'd guess they take a full 6 months, so were looking at January for a return, which isn't awful.

####.
Lets hope the extended time he will have missed over the past two years won't hinder his development significantly..

You do know Hanifin and Kylington are the same age right? Only 4 months separate them.

Adding Gillies would honestly be a plus for the Flames, it would allow them to give nets to Zagidulin and Parsons.

In the Flames statement, the injury was sustained during a training session.

With him missing the entire year would we still need to protect him for the expansion draft?

The expansion draft is in June 2021. Not next summer.
