Nothing here in Edmonton - although I suspect with time and patience the smoke will come.

Wow, that’s a damning statistic when you consider the horrible air quality in cities in Asia, Mexico, Africa, etc.

I wonder how many people will develop coughs or congestion from the air and think they have covid?

It's horrible out there in Vancouver. I drove up to Squamish yesterday and you could barely see the Chief or Howe Sound.

Or worse, actually have covid, think the symptoms are because of smoke and continue on with normal life.

I’m wondering if we should cancel our planned September/October trip to the Kelowna area because of poor air quality. Any advice?

Cousins of my Dad live in Portland. They sent me this sunset picture from Friday night, said they can’t go outside the air is very bad.

How bad is this compared to our smoke-filled days in Calgary from years previous?

Did the smoke in Calgary leave you with a raw throat, make you randomly cough occasionally? right now in East van I swear I have a large house fire burning a couple of blocks away

I think the other risk with covid is that the smoke weakens your immune system so you're actually more susceptible to infections like covid.

I was blowing sooty mucus out of my nose for the weeks we were enduring that.

I can't comment on Calgary, but I was in Lethbridge and drove through the Okanagan in 2003, and that was way worse than what is going on in Vancouver right now.

I also used to live in Northern Ontario where there were always season fires, and it would get worse there. Was even in a community that needed to be evacuated before by boat because the roads were cutoff.

Having said that, it is bad enough in the Lower Mainland to be uncomfortable for sure. My sinuses and throat were pretty scratchy when I woke up today, and my eyes have been pretty itchy from the smoke. Definitely not the worst I have experienced though.

We've been at hazardous levels for at least 36 hours now. My AC's filter is pretty gross even though we haven't been running it much. Supposed to get some relief tomorrow which I hope is true. Getting some severe cabin fever after 5 days of don't go outside

I was in Waterton over the weekend and you couldn't see across the lake. The wind just blew it through thick. Bringing back reminders of 2017 there.

I am sure that it won't help Vancouver's air quality that the pier in New Westminster is burning and will likely smolder for days. Gimme some of that sweet sweet creosote!

My cousin was on a gold trip to Kamloops this weekend and it was clear skies.

I know Kelowna has had some smoke but it's likely not nearly as bad as Greater Vancouver & Victoria since we're so much closer to Washington.

I just got back from a weekend in Kelowna. Smoke rolled in Saturday night. It was worse this morning there than it is here in Calgary when I got back.
