That's Bryz.

I posted Vokoun in Montreal a while back.
In case anyone was interested, he played one period of hockey for the Canadians (also the first NHL period of his career). He let in 4 goals and had a 12.00 GAA.
He went on to have arguably a better career than the other goalies that played for the Habs that season.

Vokoun was a phenomenal goalie, incredibly underrated due to the small markets he played in. IMO he's top-15 in NHL history.

Would you consider him better than Kari Lehtonen?

Scott Hannan as a Flame. I literally can’t recall him playing a single game as a Flame. And yet he played 78 of them in 2011/12.

I mean you have some interesting takes, but this...is one of them.
I know this article is old, but who on this list would Vokoun replace?

I'm not sure how to properly rate the guys from the 20s, to be honest with you. But it's downright criminal that Luongo isn't on a top-15 list. As for vokoun, he was simply consistently elite at stopping pucks, particularly after the lockout. His GSAA/GP is fantastic.

I don't think anyone can fairly compare.
I think you almost have to make a clean break with history around the time that modern equipment drastically changed how the position is played.

Does anyone have a photo of Robert Lang with the Flames? He was cut in camp in '96 or '97.
People also forget that between being bought out by Calgary and signing in Tampa, Martin St. Louis was cut in camp by the Senators, too.
Also, speaking of Gilmour (who's been mentioned in this thread a few times), a lot of people also forgot that his last game played in his career was in Calgary. He played one game for the Leafs in 2003 but tripped awkwardly over Phil Housley a period into the game and that was the end of his career.

Nope definitely Bryzgalov. I recognize that white mask anywhere. Pretty sure Khabi wore 35 in Edmonton

I definitely forgot that Bryz played in Edmonton! Just looked it up: twenty games, 5-8-5

St Louis wouldnt have made it in the league full time, if the Flames weren’t so terrible back when, and with no other answers, took a chance on calling him up from (and signing him to) the farm.
Leafs fans and media were choked about Gilmour, everything from calling it a dirty play by the Flames for Gilmour injury to bad ice and officiating. Iirc it was Lowry and Gilmour locking knees. It was Gilmour first game as a Leaf in his second go around, after getting picked up by the Habs. And last.
That was also supposed to be McAmmond’s second debut as a Flame, as the Flames got him back from Colorado, but he was ineligible because you couldn’t reacquire a guy you had traded that same season (Drury trade).

Good pull.
If you go back into some of the old dev camps you can find some weird stuff too - like Dennis Wideman (perhaps a the same camp as Richie Regehr and Gio but not sure).
More recently Phillip Myers was at a Flames camp. Too bad they couldn't sign him.
Also the fabled great training camp of Robert Dome - only to have him not make the cut. He never did anything after in the NHL, but at the time, it seemed like he was a missed opportunity.

Dave Lowry. Skated backwards into him in the neutral zone if I recall correctly.
