Default Preseason: Jets @ Flames. 7pm MT

Flames just announced the roster for the game. There are 13f and 7d listed, but it appears Dube and Valimaki continue to get more looks.

Ok. This time TSN3 will be showing the game for the Jets broadcast region. There is no TV broadcast for the Flames region. You may be able to watch TSN3 broadcast on Center Ice or Rogers Gamecenter.

I would expect the Flames to have their own stream with regional restrictions, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

The Jets - Oilers game is on TSN3 tonight and is blacked out in Calgary (for some unfathomable reason). However, the game is also on channel 351 and is not blacked out.

Perhaps the same situation will play out tomorrow night.

Disappointing to not see Matthew Phillips in either of the last two games.

The Flames tweeted out their morning game day tweet, but there is no mention of a stream. Center Ice is supposed to be on a free preview with Shaw and Telus. This may be the only way to legally watch the game.

Looks like the Flames will face former prospect Laurent Brossoit in net.

The Flames are definitely giving Dube a hard look. He seems to be playing every game.

I would like to see Janko between Dube and Mangiapane.

Looking at those lineups and what's happened so far this preseason, the Flames should win this one easily..

Not a strong Jets lineup, but the Flames don't have anyone but Lindholm from the top two lines as well.

Calgary defense and goaltending should pull through though.

Jets @ Flames is listed on Centre Ice in my Telus guide at channel 1102. Here's hoping!

Gotta imagine that this is the last chance for a few players to show their stuff before the start of the AHL camp.

Yup, 50 players still left in camp means that there’s going to be a lot of cuts very soon. You have to think this is the last chance for a large number of the playing group today.

A bit off topic -> but I just noticed that after two games against the Canucks to open the regular season, the Flames don't play another Pacific Division foe for 13 more games. (early November).

Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing? I'm counting on them NOT starting so slow this year so I feel they don't need all that time to get up-to-speed but I guess we don't have a choice in the matter.

Flipping through the other Pacific Division teams...it looks to be more of the same. A lot of Eastern Conference games sprinkled in with some Central teams. Probably will make for a bonkers last 1/3 of the season!

This camp has been different from previous Flames camps that I've followed. China certainly contributes to it, and perhaps this is the way it's done elsewhere.

But the running 'NHL' group and 'non-NHL' group just makes sense to me. It maximizes opportunities to get the regulars time to get comfortable playing with each other and sort out lines (eg: our top 6F and top 4D). It keeps competition strong for those last few spots that are legitimately up for grabs. And while it would be nice to make all choices with 100% certainty, those last few spots aren't set in stone.

Removes the BS, rewards the stand-outs, and accomplishes the primary purpose of training camp: getting the team ready to start the season.

Decent forward depth trying out for that 12th forward position...

Dillon Dubé
Andrew Mangiapane
Spencer Foo
Glenn Gawdin?

I's assume these guys are being considered for 13th/14th forward?

Morgan Klimchuk
Buddy Robinson
Alan Quine

How awesome would it be to see Adam Ollas-Mattsson earn a 6th/7th D man spot!

I have always been of the opinion that the team's extra defenseman needs to be a guy who can play a lot of games, unlike the extra forward who realistically may only see ice in 10–15 games in the season. So, no, I would not be overly impressed by seeing AOM last the extra defenseman to start the year. All seven of the Flames defensemen need to be NHL players, and they already have seven of those well ahead of Ollas-Mattsson.

He doesn’t even have a contract. He will be Stockton’s 6/7
