Shot in the dark, but flew in last night and customs has been rearanged. There is some wacky system to pre line up before the line to go to the kiosks. Locals then had to cross theough the line of people connecting on. Then everything was lined up to talk to customs. Seemed to take forever and felt disorganized.
Anyone know why they would change?
Just was a total s#%t show, at a usually butter smooth process. Maybe it was a unusual night, but that new line system is wierd and super inefficient.

It’s been a mess since day one. Several different configurations and they have all sucked. It takes an army of people to help people figure out what to do. Good thing there’s all that automation!

I noticed that change 2 weeks ago, coming back from vegas. Luckily I have Nexus, so I got to bypass it.
It's still annoying that they don't have a separate line for security for Nexus going to the US or International, but they do for domestic flights.

I don't know about international but for US they do have a Nexus line for security. It is on the far left. It allows you to bypass the maze. I've been through security for US flights in under 5 minutes most of the time.

But the Nexus merges again to the regular security line, and you don't get to use the benefits of Nexus during the security check (don't take jacket off, etc). Still get to save all that time by bypassing the line though, thankfully.

Yeah the Nexus line merges with the regular line but it is still much better than waiting behind 50 or 100 other people.

I know it’s not cool to like Tim Horton’s but I still don’t understand why there is no Tim’s in the international departures terminal? Is there a reason?

I would assume Starbucks paid the airport big bucks to keep Tim's out.

Even Saskatoon has both. This terminal is right up there with the Devonian Gardens as minimalist to the point of uselessness.

So true. The amenities at YYC pale greatly compared to most international airports...so disappointing.

Calgary International Airport - New Terminal, Runway, Control Tower
Has anyone ever carried a bag of Epsom bath salts through security? I’m going to a race in a few weeks, and won’t have time or ability to buy any locally.

"What's in the bag?"
"Bath salts."
"Why don't you have a seat over here."

I flew the AC 737 Max-8 the other day from Calgary to Montreal.
Such a beautiful plan, super quiet and the new entertainment system is far and away better than their traditional system.
Highly recommend selecting for that plane when available.

Flying the 737 MAX will get easier and easier with AC as they are replacing almost all of their narrowbody fleet with them and the Airbus A220-300.

Seat pitch is narrower on the 737 Max 8 than on the A320 (31" to 30" I do believe).
The one time I flew the 737 Max 8 was YHZ fo YYZ and in one of the extra legroom seats.
Plane was nice, quiet, screens are awesome, loved the IFE. Big bins, but the bathrooms were tiny. I couldn't imagine anyone with an average build with broad shoulders being able to fit properly. I'm tall, so I'm used to low height ceilings, but man they were narrow. If you weigh over 200lbs you're not comfortably fitting in those bathrooms (be it 200lbs or muscle or 200lbs of cheese).

Which is crazy that they moved the gate seats to a communal area to promote spending behavior yet under supplied options to spend that money.
