Celebrated Square Root Day

Studio Bell, NMC
Anyone been there? As a huge music lover I was looking to take the time to check it out. Although you can't tell everything from a youtube video, I do have to see while it looks architecturally stunning the actual content seems very plain and dull.
Like every room looks like a standard "here's a picture of a guy or band and some commentary on a nice looking display". Is there more to it than that? Is it worth the trip?

I went about a year ago with the family (wife and I are mid 30s, son was 3 at that point, and my parents). Every one of us had a great time. Lots of cool listening stations, interactive exhibits playing instruments, mixing, etc. Lots of space which gives the impression of there being not much to see and do there, but found we were able to fill our time there pretty well.

I just went to a couple of "things" there. But the display stuff I briefly checked out was pretty uninteresting. As a venue though it's totally cool.

Dude, it’s super wicked. If you love music you’ll dig it. If you love looking at old relics you’ll really really dig it.
And if you like architecture, bring a bib.

They have a pretty impressive collection of keyed instruments going back, I think, maybe 4-500ish years, including clavichords and then onward through the ages including a pretty cool pneumatic Kimball theatre organ that basically takes up a whole room, and the player can play the pipe organ, drums, glockenspiel etc. Some synthesizers including the TONTO. Also they have the Rolling Stones mobile recording unit.
Yeah, it’s pretty cool.

I really enjoyed it when I went for the first time in the summer.

Well, I guess I'll definitely check it out, then. Sometimes it's hard to get a real idea based on youtube videos.

And what about Glenbow? Worth the $18 for a trip through?

I was just there today! It was my third visit. The first, I spent a good part of the day there. There is tons of stuff to listen to and try. There are also changing displays, so it's not always the same.
I also went on Canada Day, when it was free, and it was so packed with people that it wasn't as enjoyable, although I liked the new displays. Today it wasn't busy at all. I took my parents and we all enjoyed it.

Sure, if you're the kind of person who likes museums. It's got plenty of content.

I’d wait on the glenbow until the rotating exhibit is something that interests you. Just the base collection to me is a little light for the $20

Glenbow runs a free night, or used to, once a month.

Thursday's I believe, but it's apparently super busy. I'd probably either see the value in going, and pay the $18 on a quiet day or not go at all.

It's probably worth getting a membership to the music center. You get some pretty great access to all the events they have. I saw Cory Hart play a few songs in front of about forty people. That was neat. Seeing Cory Hart's shoes in a display case is lame. But the private show was wicked.
The Good Ole Frida event was so amazing too. I never would have known about it without being a member. They're having a two for one membership sale until xmas too.
