So I had my wife in the car today. I did an e-brake turn into the driveway after a day out skiing. I'm pretty sure the reaction I got wasn't the one I was looking for. I have possibly been deceived by Jeremy Clarkson.

The first one needs to simmer a couple days. Haha, that bit was hilarious.

While I've enjoyed this season, I find myself wanting Top Gear to return.

Highlights so far this season have been the Lancia/Audi documentary, The new female Stig, Hammond and the Lambo. And the unscripted unplanned episode.

Hahaha! This made me laugh!

Branded as The Grand Tour, but no idea what it has to do with the show.

GT motorsports documentary segments are just the best. May's segment on Ford vs Ferrari for example.

God bless the Italians and their craziness in vehicular endeavours.
this week it's a DB4 Lightweight and a Jag XKSS... bloody glorious.

Tried to convince my husband we don’t actually need amazon prime. But, Grand Tour. And thus Amazon Prime is renewed.

I hate how the Amazon Prime app on the xbox doesnt group all seasons of a show. So I just assumed season 1 was no longer on the service and just watched season 2. Well lo and behold I ran into season 1 while looking at stuff last night so I started watching!

I don't think it's a good thing they're abandoning the studio... They tend to forget to focus on the cars on big trip segments and more about the scripted antics between the 3 of them.

It's about the cars Jeremy....

Totally disagree.

It's about the presentation of the cars.

What makes the studio segments so cringe worthy is that it's just unedited Clarkson/may/hampster. They are terribly unfunny presented raw, but are quite funny with the help if a skilled editor/producer. May is the funniest when presented just by himself while Clarkson and Hammond really shine when you edit their bits together.

The reason I think I like the expedition episodes the best is there is hundreds of hours of footage to pull from to fill 45 minutes of airtime. You can do tremendous things with comedic and dramatic storytelling in the editing room.

Also they (as in the videographers/film crew) really seem to highlight the beauty of the countries they’re visiting. I like that aspect as well - the amazing scenery shots and helicopter footage while they’re driving around.

The cinematography has always been top notch, they've never skimped on production value.

Unless they're going through Africa and the camera guys are trying to capture animals....they are not good at that.

The races and challenges have always been the best parts of the show

But i feel some type of studio or buffer helped as well...

Will be interesting to see if they have another framing device, either way im excited

Also agreed on the cinematography, just incredible, english shows place such a bigger emphasis on it than shows made in north america

So it's not so much the actual studio segments themselves - but being back at the studio in the BBC days meant it was a "cheap budget" week and it meant the writing team had to come up with creative and occasionally brilliant episodes or intra-Europe trips (ie cheap Italian car challenges) or segments (ie Lancia / GT40 documentaries). Key thing was that they focused on elements of cars that true petrolheads would love vs stunning vistas and visual money shots.

They improved things a lot last year on the petrolhead aspect so hopefully they continue with that.
