First, let’s talk “Trekkers” vs “Trekkies”. Never liked the “Trekker” label. I don’t know why. Maybe it tried to instill too much seriousness.
Self-proclaimed Trekkie and proud of it!

100% Agree, and how awesome is it to nitpick a nitpicking book

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode. The angel mystery is starting to develop and I’m definitely intrigued. The Side plot with Tilly I’m still meh about, but that’s because it’s Tilly.

I think that this was one of the more solid epsiodes of the series overall. Maybe because they kept the premise fairly simply. Maybe because the focus was more on Pike then anything else. But I actually found myself liking this episode.
Yeah, I'll admit it, I don't much like Tilly as a character because they've just dialed up her mannerisms to an 11. And the heart felt scene between her and Saru felt really forced to me, like the writers were thinking that this scene will make the fans cry. Also the dead friend thing was kind of weird, maybe because her friend was just as weird and kind of off putting as Tilly is.
But I liked the episode because it was simple and they didn't jam 100 plot points into it.

Loved the episode. Did they get all new writers or something? Its so much more thoughtful than last season, by a lot. I still don't get the hate for Tilly.

I really enjoyed the latest episode. Felt a lot more like classic Trek.

Loved that book. I think I still have it kicking around somewhere.
"Life-support Control? Is that where they have two panels, one says OK and the other says Uh-oh?"

Had an idea!

Finally back to what Trek is supposed to be.
Last season it went crazy.

New Eden was Star Trek as ####.
Anson Mount seems to have just made himself at home, as though he were part of the show from the start. I can;t think of many characters across the TV-verse that were introduced later on and seamlessly fit right in. I think he'll be one of the highlights going forward

I enjoyed the plot as well but agree the Tilly character is annoying.
Jonathan Frakes directed the episode.

Every ST series needs a Wesley.

Tilly is nowhere near as annoying as Wesley. I kinda like her actually.

If she was a skinny blue-eyed blonde as opposed to an overweight freckly red-head I don't think people would bitch so much.

Come on Ale, that's not even close to fair. The problem isn't her appearance, the problem is her mannerisms, and the fact that they're trying to over cute her, have her as a badly written comedy character.
She's the discovery's version of Wesley Crusher.
I don't care about her looks at all. I think she's just not good.

I don’t mind Tilley’s character at all.
Why would we want every character to have the same personality?

Yea, I don't get the Tilly hate. I assume it's her awkward dorkiness that people don't like, but to me that's what makes the character kind of endearing. She reminds me a bit of Lt. Barclay form TNG, but she's more likeable IMO.

She’s sort of a cross between Wesley and Barclay, I think.
But like you said, more likeable than either of those two.
