The director deserves every award possible for his work on this series. Especially the last 4 episodes. If matthew mcconaughey doesn't run the table on awards for his performance it will be a total injustice. Short, but fantastic series. Quality over quantity.

Gotta imagine it's going to be in he mini series category so the competition won't be great. True detective will clean up at Emmys.

You are probably correct. My knowledge of various award categories in different comps is limited. But IMO that direction and acting would slot in very well against oscar calibre motion pictures. Sorry for the over exuberance.

McConaughey deserves the praise but Harrelson was at his level. It was pretty masterful how they played off each other. Really, really well done series. Kind of sad it's over.

What was the last line McConaughey said about the light.? I rewound it but couldn't make it out.

"Once there was only dark... If you ask me, the light is winning"

The first sign of optimism from Rust in the entire series?

That was, as nik said, deeply satisfying. Not every little thing was answered, not every little end tied up, but it was a master stroke.

Perfect way to end the story.

Well, like Hart said "We didn't get them all. And we aren't going to get them all. But we got ours."

It really is a perfect way to end it because ultimately the story was not about the crime. It was about 2 men on a journey of discovery about themselves. One dealing with losing people to death, and the other losing people to life.

I think this series is going to be looked back upon as something ground breaking many years down the road. It might be HBO's best work ever, and that's a high bar it had to raise. And they might as well just mail McConaughey his Emmy now, one of the best performances ever for a TV series

It was a pretty good finale overall, I was a little disappointed by how clean everything wrapped, but I guess that confirms that all along this was indeed a character study more than anything. That said when they wanted to turn up the intensity they really did a tremendous job, the Corcosa scene was pretty much as intense as the tracking shot scene was earlier in the season.
