If Wolf is as good as we hope, I better he doesn't spend two years in the NHL as a backup/1B.
I like your prediction for 2022/23 but realistically that doesn't happen unless injuries or someone is awful.
But as you say, who knows? Need to see him in the NHL before going too far out on a limb.

After the Flames pressed a bit following the tying goal and Smith held the fort (barely, tbh) it seems they were content to ride the rest of the period out and wait for overtime. Unfortunately the Oilers wanted the win more.
We can piss all over RNH and call him Ryan Nothing Happens all we want, but he scored the two most important goals of the game last night. Capitalized on the forecheck when Markstrom gifted him the puck early and won a battle around the net to get inside position on a rebound game-winning goal.
Exact sort of performance you want from your depth centers. The kind of game that Jarnkrok dreams about having, probably.

I guess we know how FLA fans feel.

LOL, the two situations are entirely dissimilar. What a weird comparison.

I just meant the resulting disappointment in not meeting expectations after the terrific seasons both teams had.
Florida is certainly set up for success next year it seems.

Nope. But it speaks to how difficult and random the playoffs are.
The Avs haven't gone past the second round in 20 years.

If the Oilers can win 3 straight against the Flames. The Flames can win 3 straight against the Oilers. I feel positive for game 5. Take this 1 game at a time

Well that I can agree with. I'll say that Florida's showing has been a lot more disappointing than the Flames. At least the Flames have had something to talk about between 1996 and now.
Either way, I think it was a big step forward for both teams this year, regardless of what happens in the rest of this series. Lessons are being learned hopefully.
I still think the Flames could take this series to 7, and then it's a crapshoot either way. They just have to stop shooting themselves in the foot for a couple games to do it.

100%. This is all experience for the players he continually says has little and need it.
Problem is, this should have been in last years playoffs, culminating in better execution this year when the roster is at peak. Sutter should have been hired earlier last year.
Now we're chasing it. Can we keep this roster and possibly even improve on it with new Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Kylington deals?

Sutter is going to ride or die with Markstrom. Unfortunately it looks like it will be die.

How is it not the end point when there's a very real chance that there is no Johnny and no Tkachuk on this team next October? This season was all cards thrown into the middle of the table. We all knew it was a big gamble.
And, frankly, with our two stars not being able to score when it really matters, it's time for a change anyway.

What's wrong with Vladar?
It's not like he let in any goals in that one period he played. We don't need elite goaltending to beat the damned Oilers.

I have faith. Coming back from 3-1 isn’t uncommon. And I know the Flames are the better team. They just aren’t playing like it right now.

I was being facetious. I would go with Vladar as well.

Has Sutter commented on goaltending? I'm shocked he didn't give Vladar a game. He must really not trust him.

Right, makes sense.
My sense of humor is not at it's best with this series unfortunately.

I think with Markstrom it’s his salary that possibly comes into play. Do you want your 6M goalie sitting on the bench in the playoffs? That’s what they got him for. Same with the regular season.
It’s a lot of money for that position and if it goes bad it’s not good.

Unless Marky approaches the coach and says I can't go, Sutter will ride Marky. You live and die by your starter in the NHL. People should accept that fact.
