Question Jeopardy!

Let's let Alex rest in peace, shall we?
The benefit of this host issue is we get more guest hosts. I'm not quite ready to settle.

If it plays out a change has to be made, they'll likely just give the full time job to Mayim Bialik since they already have her under contract.

I gave the guest hosts a shot but just isn't the same. Maybe when they settle on a permanent host I'll come back but not liking this hybrid plan for daily and specials already. Even Matt's run isn't enough to suck me in again.

I wonder if she isn't interested in the commitment, and is happy just doing the special events.

From what I've seen she didn't want the full time gig due to being swamped with other work.

If they want to continue with a guest host search I would still like to see what John O'Hurley could do.

At this point, if they haven't already been doing so, they should just start looking at doing an open casting for a new host and move away from trying to bring an existing celebrity onboard. Find a great, young, unknown person to take over and hope that they can build a legacy like Trebek did.

What is Wil Wheaton up to these days? He seems to just to so mostly cameos and stuff. He has a good charisma and otherwise unimpeachable past.

If you ignore his time as Wesley.

What if they contacted Industrial Light and Magic and got them to make a Holographic Alex Trebek?

Thanks for starting this new thread. It depresses me all over again every time I see that old thread and the title bumped up and reminded of Alex Trebeck's passing, but the updates are about new Jeopardy hosts.

Trebek will always live on in the Jeopardy video game that came free with my Shreddies cereal box 15 years ago.

I'm not sure that guest hosts was a good idea. When Bob Barker retired they just replaced him with Drew Carey and it's now been 10+ years. No issues.

They made the host too much a big deal on Jeopardy and now no host can fit that standard. Heck, a 40 year old Alex Trebek today would have a social media history and not be hired.

Like I said in the other thread, if you're resorting to digging up podcast now? Forget it. Those are unfiltered.

Isn't it also because Jeopardy is rather heavily scripted? Isn't there a rigorous process for those contestants before they even get on the live show? I think that's maybe why they're having a tough time finding a replacement.

I also dont think Jeopardy and The Price is Right are really that comparable.

Jeopardy has held itself something of a 'step above.'

There is a slight difference between having vast amounts of knowledge spanning a veritable cornucopia of topics and being able to guess the price of a block of butter.

The standards are likely a little higher.

Allegedly, Trebek wanted Laura Coates for the job.

well Richards is gone.

most likely, Sony realized that the negative press on Richards is bad for the bottom line and made a purely financial decision.

I don’t know. It seems like a common misconception that memorization is equal to intelligence. People who can figure out Wheel of Fortune puzzles with only a few clues might be smarter.

Jeopardy isn't just memorization. Categories like crossword clues, before and after, and some where you merge words and phrases all require more than just memorization. And if you don't have things memorized, you can still tease out the correct response by using the clues provided.

I learned long ago that 'smart' and 'intelligent' are not only capable of being mutually exclusive but that there is an entire spectrum and that the two dont necessarily need to overlap.
