I love his Red Tory/Liberal/NDP excuse. News Flash Rob, people are voting PC in spite of you, not because of you.

Update: Former MLA Ron Liepert may step up to challenge Anders.

“I just think it’s time that people got organized and put this guy out to pasture,” said Liepert, who chose not to run again in the 2012 provincial election after serving eight years as Progressive Conservative MP.
“He can call us Liberals and what the hell us he wants to call us but all that is is scare tactics because he knows damn well he’s in trouble.”

Is Liepert that much better though? You'd think we could do better than either of those choices. It's pretty much a guaranteed job with a decent income and cushy pension for whoever wins the nomination.

I never thought I'd see a scenario where I'd become a "card carrying Conservative", but this is it. The riding will always vote conservative, so I'd rather help make sure that the conservative they vote for is not Anders. We might actually get some representation if Anders is not the CPC pick anymore.

I have a really hard time picturing the person who I wouldn't vote for over Rob Anders. It would have to be some terrible ugly stuff.

So wait a sec... after enduring Rob Anders for my entire electoral life, they are re-drawing the boundaries and I'm going to get a different MP anyway? With or without Anders getting sent out to pasture?

I guess that also rules me out of voting against him in a party nomination race, correct?

Yes, it does. You need to be a member in that riding.

That's unfortunate (but obviously understandable). I was looking forward to helping prevent his nomination.

New electoral boundaries in Calgary for the next Federal Election:

Only wish I lived in the new riding so I could buy a membership and vote out the #######.

Always was, the distribution just hived off the stuff atop the hill north of the river.

Rob Anders on Power and Politics right now! Probably get repeated in the second hour around 4:15. There is a conservative challenge to him with the new boundaries.

God, just listening to him is hard. He's just slinging mud with ever word. These guys are red tories that just want to raise taxes and give money to unions. It's all about red and blue, blah blah blah.

What a tool.

Anyway, any registered Conservative voters may wanna jump on this movement.

EDIT: That's CBC Newsworld, 800 on Telus

How did they arbitrarily pick the names for the ridings? Rocky Ridge, Midnapore, Confederation, Forest Lawn. Seems like they just picked a community in the whole riding and called it that. Some work (Signal Hill, Nose Hill) only because they are both areas AND neighbourhoods.

Apologies, I'm a bit behind in my local current events, is this gentleman the UofC or Mount Royal Students Union President? Will he finally bring more fast food options to Mac Hall? When is the rally to protest the tuition increases and budget cuts at Mount Royal?

Rob Anders just cut off an interview on As It Happens because "I have an interview with Sun News & they're more important than you".

Midnapore & Forest Lawn were towns, before Calgary annexed them.

Inglewood had it's own mayor until the 70s I believe.

I don't really like how they divided up the communities around where I live... Millrise and Shawnessy get separated from Evergreen? Kids from these communities all go to the same schools. Arbitrary line drawing on a map IMO.

I do not think there is a perfect solution to this really. You have to bring into account population and you do not really want to cut communities in half.
