Default Carl Reiner dead at 98

He was a true pioneer, and responsible for a great deal of what we watch on TV and in the threaters now.

A career that lasted 60 years, he directed 15 movies and most of them were well known iconic pieces of Cinema comedy including.

The Jerk, Dead Men don't wear Paid, The man with two brains, summer rental and Oh God.

He was also the director and creator of the Dick Van Dyke Show.

He appeared as an actor in 31 movies and countless TV shows.

He also gave the world Rob Reiner.

RIP

Very sad, he seemed like such a genuinely nice person. I would not be shocked to see Mel Brooks pass in the next couple of weeks, him and Carl would have dinner together nightly and were super close

This is very sad news. His Twitter account was awesome!

Relatively healthy to the end, a great long life, left a great legacy. Can't ask for much more than that.

It’s probably just the generation I grew up in but this is the first thing that came to mind:

On that note, a while ago I watched a segment of Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner on stage together just chatting and shooting the breeze.

It was brilliant.

Great writer, actor and comedian! He certainly seemed to have a great life and be able to share his one of a kind humor with all of us!

The Comedians in Cars episode where Jerry goes over to Carl's house to have dinner with him and Mel Brooks is my favourite episode of the series. May have to watch that one again tonight

I loved Carl Reiner when he appeared on Conan. For his age he seemed to be about as sharp as can be.

He was one of the last celebrities who was also a WWII veteran. Mel Brooks is the only one remaining that I can name off the top of my head.
