Although he will be a free agent at season’s end, McElhinney said he hopes to emerge from a stacked Calgary goaltending pack as Kiprusoff’s backup again next year.
“I think there is still a good opportunity in this organization for me,” he said. “There are a lot of good goalies coming up. That adds some pressure but at the same time, it motivates me.”
Considering they didn't have any faith in him in the NHL and Sutter has stated he hasn't been as good as in previous years in the AHL, will he really be given the chance? At some you either fish or cut bait.
