Yeah Keith was notorious with his multiple holdouts and threats of holdouts. But more importantly was that he was extremely supportive of his teammates for holding out as well. He criticized teams for not paying their players what they were worth. It's a changed landscape compared to then, but I don't think Matthew having Keith as a father is a benefit in this regard

Tkachuk, who had two years left on a five-year contract, had insisted he would return to the fold only if he gained financial concessions in an extension that would place him among the NHL's highest-paid players at his position.

Tkachuk made the same calculated move in early November 1997 when he took his feelings about Oleg Tverdovsky's contract (or lack thereof) status to the media. Tkachuk said G.M. Bobby Smith should sign him for the money he is asking as he is an extremely valuable member of the team. A nice sentiment but Tkachuk knew he was stabbing Smith in the back. Now Smith is even deeper under the gun as most fans will take the side of their captain over management. But this is how Phoenix operates. ''Getting'' management for all the dollars they are worth is the key factor, and they are led in this by their captain.

I’m thinking 8 x $6.75. And finally some security for me and my jersey selections.

Off topic but just a quick question...

Can you re-purpose a jersey?

My dad - Winnipegger and lifelong Jets fan - still considers "Tkachuk" a dirty word.

It cost them Teemu Selanne, and he went down to score 109, 86 and 107 points the next three seasons for Anahiem. Dirty word indeed

Edit: Oh yea, and 150 of those points were goals.

It depends on how it was done originally and what you want to change. If you have an old #19 jersey and just need the name plate switched, it shouldn't be too hard as long as it's sewn on and not heat-pressed.

If you need the number changed as well, it won't look as good because you'll be able to see where the old number was.

Sign Matt long term then sign Brady as a UFA. Profit.

I was never worried, even if he never played another game with the Flames I would still rock #19 with pride.

I'd expect the AAV to start with a 7
If he signs after a monster year, maybe an 8

Yeah he made 75 million , 5th most all time.

I suppose his Dad could push him to get max , all I am saying is that when your family is already sitting on 10s of millions it is a lot easier to leave money on the table.

I think it is crucial they go 8 years with Tkachuk if they can even if he costs $8M (I think Treliving can get it done for less). He is so important to our team and he is only going to get better.

It may be easier to leave money on the table for those who already have tonnes of it, but I suspect it is not remotely likely for Tkachuk to accept a lower salary than he is worth because his dad is already rich.

Tkachuk's extension is going to be massive.

I’ve said this a few times in different threads...

I’ve goodwilled a couple jerseys. And then a couple years ago I attend a corporate thing for the season opener and get a gratis Hamilton jersey.

I wonder if we see a new #27... or some lucky person is getting it.
