He's played two full seasons and has scored 70 points in total. 6 years is a long contract for the player he's been so far. I liked Dvorak as a prospect but he hasn't shown he can be a difference maker in the NHL yet.

He has been very good with a ton of potential
Great deal that could end up being a bargain

Lindholm yr 4 and 5 2.7M
So comparing to Lindholm I think the comparable deal comes out to 2 years @ 2.7 and 4 years at 5.35
Makes the Lindholm deal seem like a real bargain.
I would have to think that Arizona thinks that Dvorak is better than Lindholm.

Seems like a decent deal as they must feel he may blow up and this contract will be looked at as a bargain. That said you never know as this could also blow up in their face if he doesn't progress.

Emphasis on could....for me this is roughly a $.75M-$1M per year overpayment for a guy that has never scored 20g or 40 points in the NHL. What are the Yotes thinking by giving him both dollar and term at this juncture of his career with Keller and Strome coming up on deals soon?

I thought for a second it was former filthy Oiler Radek Dvorak and was amazed he managed to command such a huge contract.

IMO this makes the Lindholm deal look outstanding.

He's a huge part of this core, unsung in many respects. Look at his Junior #'s and coming into his own in the NHL he's around a 0.5 point per game clip. By year 2 or 3 of this deal he will probably be a $6 mill per year player
He's been way better than Strome btw and Keller will get his $$$

Ok, but he’s just going to put you in his contacts and charge you 10% of whatever you currently make.

Seems like a good deal. I think this contract will turn out as well as Lindholm's (fair value if current production, steal if improvement). And I'm not a Coyotes fan.

Both of his junior line mates are going to sign massive contracts in the coming year

There's really no way to know this. He could be a 40 point player his entire career. This is a gamble - they're paying him for what he might become rather than paying him based on what he's demonstrated himself to be. Very risky.

I'm a little surprised at a lot of the deals this summer.
You have guys like Dvorak, Lindholm, Wilson, and Hertl, all guys that haven't hit 50 points in a season locking in long term for $4.5-$5.5 million dollars.
While at the same time you have guys like Zucker getting $5.5 for over 60 points, Perron getting $4, Karlsson getting $5 for 78 points.
I guess I'm not really surprised at the first set of deal as contracts rise every, year, as much as the second set. Guys not getting substantially more for substantially better seasons.

This is what happens when the Oilers don’t have any money to spend.

Perron's kind of a journeymen player that's had some good seasons and mediocre seasons and teams are always hesitant to lock up or overpay guys like this. Zucker is 26 and just had season where he put up almost 20 points over his previous career high. If he hit the open market he may have got more money but I don't know if teams would be lining up to give him a 6x6 million contract. The Knights are rolling the dice on Karlsson
because if he repeats last season he's going to warrant a big raise but the 23% shooting percentage is a bit of a red flag as it's just not going to be sustainable and they probably want to see what type of player he is when his shooting percentage is closer to the norm.
