Bit of an odd year for Backs. A step back last year for Backlund but I wonder if Frolik slowing down a bit had something to do with that. Also an unusually high number of penalties for him. I'd like to see a Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm line this season potentially and see how they work together.
Backlund is such an underrated player around the league and its hard to get an appreciation for everything he does and his skill unless you follow all of the games. He's actually gotten better as he ages, which is against the norm.
Location: F*** me. We're so f***ing good, you check the f***ing standings? Lets f***ing go! F***ing practice!
Exp:
Backlund is criminally underrated.
Awesome job AC, especially love some of the defensive gems you captured in there.
Next time someone tries to sell that Backlund has no offensive skill or that Tkachuks production is stifled having Backs as his center, I'll send them to this video.
Backlund's defensive awareness is a treat to watch, but he's also quite skilled and has deceptive speed. He's easily one of the top two-way forwards in the game.
