If the Flames wanted Virtanen you'd think they'd deal down. Haven't seen him but from what I've read I'd prefer guys like Dal Colle, Draisaitl, Ritchie, Perlini or Fleury if we're not drafting top 3.

I'd be very upset if the Flames took Virtanen top 5 with either Draisaitl or Dal Colle (not high on him but still projects a bit better than Virtanen) on the board.

Still not saying I'd take Virtanen that early for Flames but I'd be willing to bet Flames brass will ponder. Oh, and for CPer worried about pts per game, Jake now has 62 P (39 goals) in 61 GP and 11 P in last 6 GP to go with over 130 PIMs.

Those are still brutal totals for a top 5 pick.

I'm really really hoping the Flames can get another top-10 pick so they can get him.

Dan Kinvig has followed him his whole career in Abbotsford and said he's one of the most physically gifted players he's ever seen.

Ritchie, Virtanen, and Perlini are about even for me.

They have their individual pros and cons each but they are wingers with size and above average speed and would fit an organization need.

However, they seem to lack the level of "offensive creativeness" Reinhart, Bennett, Dal Colle, and Draisaitl are lauded for.

Would be slightly disappointing if one of them were picked before the more creative forwards.

Almost seems we would be wise to pick Fleury if for some reason we fall outside the top five. These guys reek of complementary players and not difference makers, which we need with our first.

Jake Virtanen is the first 2014 NHL draft eligible prospect from the CHL to crack 40 goal barrier.
