GOAT!

I’ve met him numerous times at Stamps games. Just brief small talk each time, but always seemed like a great guy. He’s one of my faves for sure.

TSN Calgary reporters tend to be in that mold. Jim Van Horne, Peter Watts, Teresa Kruze, Lisa Bowes and Jermaine Franklin. Wonder who is in line to replace him?

Lets take the best thing Winnipeg has going for them in sports. Sarah Orlesky.

It will likely be some young up-and-comer we've never heard of before. I'm not sure how old Jermain is, but I'd guess somewhere in his early-mid 40s. He's been here almost 20 years, so he would have been in his mid-late 20s when he started.
I suspect his replacement will be at a similar point in their career.

You should send your profile to TSN, maybe they will hire you to cover Calgary sports!

Hah, thanks, but definitely not. This city is full of talented journalists with way more experience and skill than me. I don't even have a degree! Perfectly happy to keep working at Dollarama for now... I do have a new opportunity in the works, though.

He used to play on my soccer team and he is genuinely one of the nicest, kindest human beings you've ever met.
Unless you get him angry, because hes a huge dude.

Loved Franklin. He's everything the fans truly want in a journalist - No bull****, no confrontational stuff, no stirring the pot, no devil's advocate. Nothing he did was inflammatory, it was just informational and connecting.
Too often journalists think they have to invent story-lines or create them with friction and contrarian views. But what most journalists need to understand is that there is a grand canyon between what sells and what people like and respect. Everyone turns and looks at a car wreck, but most people don't like or want car wrecks.

I wish I could thank this, but the post is too old now. She is hero in my opinion.

I think she would be great to have in the broadcast booth as a permanent fixture.

That intermission panel and that article was the start of her superstardom among Flames fans.
But she's done nothing but great work before that, and since that, culminating in her calling the Flames game on Intl Women's Day last season.
She's a gem.

It looks like he got out as quickly as he could too, going to Montreal for University. We should probably give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
