Made an Inquisitor / Sorcerer, Sith lvl 10.
Daragon Trail
Name: Coltaine
i think i'll be creating a character on that server, a buddy of mine from a different gaming group we're members of is part of a Calgary based guild on Daragon Trail, so i think i'd like to get involved with them to try out the bigger endgame content
Sounds like a whole bunch of CalPuck players on the Daragon trail and most of them are on the side of darkness.
I upgraded my ship last night and fought my first space battle in the shuttle escort mission. I thought I would hate it because its a rail system, but it was a fun little diversion before I headed to Balmorra to execute some people in the name of my fat master (who I'm going to kill one day).
I tried to be nice and buy my slave a backpack so she could carry my things, but she whined about that but that's ok (I'll kill you later too)
I sent my droid on some missions and he bought back some delicious dark side points and other gifts so I pushed off operation kill the crap out of my droid for a week or two.
For fun I took my level 17 Warrior back to Korriban to finish off a couple of missions "The hate machine" and the one where you take down the Sith Lord for his ring, its amazing how much more powerful you are as I managed to kill a Sith Lord with two light saber strikes and he was elite.
Anyways I'm now up to level 17 and just gained some new powers, I'm still waiting for choke and throw

I love coming into this thread to see what the captain had been up to.
I've been trying to come up with something to write about, but its tough.
I do know a few things.
My boss is an armored fat guy who needs to die. I just envision my guy leaving his office and he flips up that bondage mask of his and fries up some nacho's with his Sith Lightning.
When I first arrived at the Sith Academy I was told that the one unbreakable rule is that I can't kill other students, nudge nudge wink wink, so far I went on a killing spree that closely resembles that of the Road runner, the schools probably financially destitute because of a sharp reduction in tuition and text book revenue.
I joined a secret order, that is so secret that I'm suppossed to find my own way in the world and not tell them. I also have a quota to sell 400 boxes of detergent and some Sham-Wows, I can't wait to get force persuasion, that is the definition of evil.
My Slave is a blue chick with a shock collar, on a positive note, I can ram my light saber into any oriface and hit the shock button and do a quick recharge on my saber and my cell phone.
I've killed a wack of Sith Lords who were either instructors at the academy or lords in the Capital, yet I'm still fetching bagels and washing fat boys Sequeway.
You'd think with all of the thousands of people in these game worlds that all of the wild life on every planet would have been exterminated long before I joined the game, I'm sure those Jedi Knights that are part of the PETA sect are really upset that us Sith Lords aren't wearing synthetic leather and metal.
In terms of favorite missions.
Nothing like killing your first teaching and chopping off his hand to give to my boss. Guess someone isn't getting a seperation package.
So, spare the son, kill the father, plow the mom, the mom swears her friendship, son sends an assasin, someone should write a play about that.
Making light saber noises, winning and then picking the bad a%% dialogue choice . . . kinda like a emo kid wearing a dog collar picking a fight.

I'm thinking about diving into this game after listening to some positive buzz, but I have a few questions.
1. Is this just an expansion? Would it be like starting playing WoW just after Cataclysm launched and I'll be years behind everyone else, or can i pick it up pretty easily and actually enjoy it with others around me?
2. What sets this aside from other time-sucking MMORPGs?

an expansion to what? it's a brand new game, so everyone's on the same playing field. as for your other two questions, that's individual preference so you should read some reviews to see if it's up your alley

As the other fellow said...expansion to what? If you must compare it to WoW, it's like Vanilla WoW. Original launch. Most folks don't even have a single level capped toon yet.
In this one, it's more of a single player story. There are set quests/storylines for each class that take your character from 1 to 50. These storylines are voice acted, and very well done. Things your character does actually matters to your storyline.
Only you can answer that one. Most folks who I know have tried it, have felt they've gotten their money's worth out of it. But it's a game, ymmv, of course.

The game launched like 3 weeks ago, it's brand new.
Thanks for the info guys. I assumed it was like an expansion to Knights of the Old Republic or something (another game I have not played).
Looks like Ill be jumping on board then, make up my own mind.
It's supposed to be very similar to KotoR, just bigger/longer, more people. Having never played either game I'm in the same boat you are, just not sure if I want to devote the time to an MMO.
The one area where SWTOR is seriously lacking is in the MMO side of things, at least at low levels (I've made it to level 17).
I'm finding I'd really like to do more "flashpoints", but finding people to run them with is an absolute pain in the ass. WoW solved this problem years ago with the LFG system - I'm really missing the ability to queue for an instance and run them back to back.
The LFG system is atrocious - it's identical to the one that Everquest had... 12 years ago. And where the heck is the ability to mark pulls - if you're going to make pulling a game play mechanic, you should make marking part of the base game, not some gimmiky item you have to buy with "social" points.
Single player experience is great though - but I'm really struggling to feel I'll get my money's worth out of it when I have to pay to play. Not sure what that monthly fee is giving me...
