He deserved a long life, and was deprived of that.
I liked his energy and his spunk even if he disliked the team I like.
I hope his parents are coping OK. Losing a child must be very difficult to come to terms with.

Tears your heart out. My son is Ben's age and I can't imagine life without him.
I've learned so much from my son and watching Ben and his enthusiasm regardless of what was happening prior to this is just awe inspiring.
Ben....you made us smile, cheer and cry . Rest easy little friend. I'm so sorry this happened to ya.

RIP Ben. You were taken from the world far too soon and fans will remember the smiles you brought to the face of so many who cheered you on while you battled cancer.

Have 4 year old and 7 month old sons. Am unreasonably devastated by this news. Can't imagine losing one of my sons. It would kill me.

Ben was what hockey is all about. I have several Oiler fans in my immediate family, so I followed his story from the start. Hard not to root for the guy and his family. Genuine people and great hockey fans.
This is a tough day for the hockey world. RIP Ben.

I just put my boy to bed and read this. My heart goes out to Ben’s family and all parents out there who have had to be brave in the wake of such tragedy.

Terribly sad. RIP little man.
As a parent this is tough to read. I hope the Oilers win vs the Flames brought him and his family some joy during the hardest thing in the world.

Our son just turned 2 months. Stories like this were always sad but now I really understand as a parent.
Just wish things like this didn't happen to kids like Ben. Heartbreaking

What that brave little man had to endure at such a young age is heart-wrenching. The guts it took to handle it the way he did is just amazing. Rest In Peace little dude. Cancer sucks.
