This guy is a legit goaltending prospect on the cusp of being an nhl regular. I’m surprised they let him go. I assume they did it based on roster numbers. Big pickup for the Flames.

Vladar is interesting for sure.

His last two years in the AHL have been really strong (.932 the last two years, .917 for his AHL career)

Not sure he's ready for a full time back up role so that's a bit surprising but he's a promising young goalie.

This is a great pickup at a very reasonable price. Could look like an absolute steal if Vladar continues to develop at his current pace. 23 years old, 6’5”, and already has some experience. Awesome

Default Flames acquire goalie Daniel Vladar from Bruins for 2022 3rd
He is waiver eligible which is the primary reason Boston was willing to move him. They can roll with Ullmark/Swayman until Rask comes back mid season and then send Swayman to the minors.

750k for 2 seasons is nice and cheap too.

Over the last two seasons:

35 GP, 1.91 GAA , 0.932 sv%

I think this is exactly what we should be doing. We have a vet goalie as a starter, so we can afford to have a prospect as a backup

Vladar led the ENTIRE AHL in BOTH save percentage (.936) and GAA (1.79) in 2019–20

This guy is a legit prospect. Flames got a stud here, IMO.
