'Twas two nights before Christmas, when all through Cow Town
The fans were still stirring, from the Dallas beat down;
The older banners were hung in the rafters with care,
In hopes another Lord Stanley soon would be there;
Jusso was nestled all snug in his bed;
While visions of a return date danced in his head;
Geoff Ward in his suit, and Cam in his pads,
Went over the game plan to make Minny sad,
When out in on the ice there arose such a clatter,
Gio sprang from the blueline and served a pass on a platter.
Away to the net Lindholm flew like a flash,
He made a great move and shrugged off a slash.
The glare off the ice in the blue painted crease,
Gave Dubnyk the thought that he got a piece,
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But the puck in the net as it flew by his ear,
With a little old goalie so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be Rittich.
More rapid than snapshots his teammates they came,
BSD whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Noah! now, Milan! now Frolik and Sammy!
On, Rasmus! on, Janko! on, Czarnik and Dube!
To the top of the west! there is no time to fall!
Now hit away! score away! crush away all!"
As pucks that before the Wild powerplay fly,
When they meet the Flames PK, their momentum will die;
So up to the hashmarks the players they flew
With a flick of his wrist, TJ Brodie broke through -
And then, in a twinkling, he saw on his right
A bright flash zipping by as he took off in flight.
Eric Staal turned his head, Ryan Suter turned around,
Down the ice Sean Monahan came with a bound.
He was dressed all in red, from his head to his feet,
His expression was boredom as he flew down main street;
A bundle of dekes he unleashed on the keeper,
And then tweeted his celly after he buried them deeper.
His eyes—how they twinkled! his mouthguard, how white!
He gets under their skin, and never shies from a fight!
Between his own legs Chucky pots one top shelf,
While out in L.A., Doughty then $h!ts himself;
The shaft of his stick is held tight in his hands,
As Ryan wins faceoffs, the Wild fans leave the stands;
Mang had a smirk on his face as their D-men see red,
They can only watch on, as he makes them Eat Bread.
With the game out of hand, and nothing further to prove,
Backlund add one more as the Flames hit their groove.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Travis gave me to know we had nothing to dread;
Gaudreau spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled the net with three more; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
“E=NG, the team up north really blows”;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And back home they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight—
“Happy Christmas to all, and to CalPuck a good night!”
