Its works people who want to believe it. There are a bucket load of people out there who have been completely radicalized over politics and spend days on end protesting expired vaccine mandates or drag shows for kids. And then there is an entire industry of people and companies out there making money off them.

Like it or not, Tate is a thought leader to great number of people in the intellectual dark web. He does espouse many of the same narratives that guys like Peterson have promoted but does so with a level of bravado and douchiness that is accessible without the pop-psychology psychobabble.

I'm kinda wondering how Lex Fridman could have gotten to this point without reading any of those already! Unless he's re-reading I guess.
I've tried to listen to Fridman's podcast a few times and I've never really liked it (maybe because he spent too much time talking). Is he basically just a science communicator? I generally avoid those podcasts since they don't go deep enough.
