I think they've worked themselves into a real pickle if this Smith gambit doesn't succeed.

I might be wrong but I don't think that the senior UCP members wanted Smith in as leader. She won because of the fringe voters/party members that actually showed up? Can't remember the percentages? I believe that when the UCP loses Smith will resign and form the fringe party, splitting some of the "conservative" vote going forward.

We know the odds the NDP win the election are slim to none. The UCP know they will win, and that is what they do whatever they please knowing that no mandate is needed.

Sad but true, after which I imagine Notley moves on leaving a huge void. She's the one who brings credibility to the NDP.

Yeah? I'm not so sure. Within my group of friends in Calgary I would say that 80% are voting NDP simply because they do not trust or believe anything Smith says, her going off the rails in the end days of her talk show does not help.
With Rachel we know the devil, with Smith....not so much.
Personally I think Smith gets murdered in YYC.

This may not be a popular opinion but I like Yoho’s posts. That isn’t to say I agree with what he posts but I do believe that in the big picture he’s providing a valuable service to the public.

It comes down to players and the level of desperation in their world(s). Unless elected most of the UCP are not really employable and thus will do and say anything to stay living off the public purse. Having said that there are a few on Rachel's team that fit this bill as well but I do think that at this point in the game, the NDP et all is far more credible than the UCP will ever be.

"Notley and her NDP crew have campaigned against Alberta energy, oil and gas."
That is just patently false.

Kaycee is getting booted to the sun by Edmonton voters. I would put money on this. Local voters have turned on him due to him being a complete chud, and the only reason he is given Cabinet positions is because he the biggest virtue signaling sycophant to any UCP leader that would have him. He's already had multiple boondoggles and resulting PR disasters in his tenure.
Of all the UCP candidates in the big cities, he seriously challenges for most incompetent, unqualified and the extreme of partisan hacks.
He barely won in 2019 and he is going to get trounced by the NDP's Nathan Ip who is a much better candidate.
If he was smart he'd start packing boxes and shuttering doors now so it stings less for his little brain after the election.

Yoho just #### posts, he does it knowingly too - and enjoys it. He is the pure definition of a troll in this thread. If you really want to stick it to him, just ignore his drive-by's. He takes pleasure in being a hornet.

That may be, but if you're going to be a UCP candidate that Edmontonians want to actually elect, you're going to have to be waaaaay better than a steaming pile of political poop.
He's one and done.

Only with the UCP would he not only not be immediately fired, but somehow promoted after his incompetency and scandals- in case anyone forgot.
