Boomer on 960 said that Ovi is just walking into the MGM grand with the Cup, right now...apparently there's video on social.

Those guys lived their best Vegas life last night.

Also how about Nathan Walker! He grows up in Sydney where everyone plays rugby and only learns about hockey from The Mighty Ducks and Mystery, Alaska, moves to Europe for development, spends time in the USHL, ECHL, and AHL and then after finally making the NHL he ends up in Edmonton. Now he has lifted the Cup, what a great story! He didn't play in the final so isn't guaranteed his name on the Cup but hopefully the Caps make him one of their 3 extra names.
He did play one game in the playoffs and got an assist. I bet he gets his name on the cup.

The Caps playoff points per game leaders:

1. Kuznetsov
2. Backstrom
3. Ovechkin
4. Walker

He's a lock for the HOF already.

I guess it's hard to imagine what we would think if it didn't happen because now it did!

Congrats to Ovechkin and the Caps!

The Rocket's name just came off the cup (It was on the band that was removed this year). Ovie's name goes on.

This is the happiest I've been watching a team win the Stanley Cup. Since I moved here about year and a half ago, I've always been fairly indifferent to the Capitals. But they are firmly my #2 team going forward! The images of fans in the streets and the stories I overheard this morning on the metro and elevator reminded me so much of the Flames in 04.

Can't wait for the parade.

It's not automatic. By rule, you get your name on if you played in 41 regular season games, or one Finals game. The team can request exceptions for players who don't qualify under that rule, however.

I’m so happy for Ovechkin. He’s a 1st ballot hall of gamer and one of the greatest players of this entire generation, although he may have the most impressive stats (I think it’s hard to compare him and Sid because they have different styles, Sid lost so much time in his prime and Sid has won more but also was lucky enough to born in Canada). He may go down as the greatest goal scorer of all time. I’m happy to see him win the Stanley Cup because now people can’t make comments about him being a good individual player but not a great player because he lacks leadership or heart or some such nonsense. What a player!

This was a weird playoffs. I'm not sure it was a particularly good one, though, with only three 7 game series and a relatively quick final, as well as quite a few blowout games and not as much overtime. I'd be interested in seeing the total number of overtime periods vs average and the number of 7 game series vs. average, I'd bet it's far less.

Without any of my teams playing in the playoffs, the quicker the better. I'm glad it went relatively quickly. I think I tuned in to parts of about 12 games, and maybe 2 full games. I was checked out as soon as the playoffs started this year.

After the first round (which I always watch a ton of) I watched a lot of NSH/WPG (of which only a couple of games were good), SJS/VGK, WAS/PIT and WPG/VGK. Only saw a games 1, 2 and 4 of the final.

I just didn't find myself going "wow, what an amazing game" after very many of them, nor was I thinking "I can't wait to watch the game tonight" like I usually am. I think the scorelines and series situations explain why. That, and there weren't really very many good storylines other than "What is Vegas", "Will Ovi finally beat the Pens" and "Will Marchand ever stop licking people".

Ovechkin finally get his respect. After all these years of getting trashed by fans. Good for him.

Glad to see Ovie finally get his cup. Didn't see the game last night and only caught two of the games in the Finals. Damn school events!

Was really hoping Vegas would win it. What a great story it would be. I also really don't like it when teams win away from home, it's always a bit of a let down. Seems like it's been happening a lot over the last few years.

Happy for Ovie though.

When Putin has your back you can do pretty much anything.

I will say though, I have to give tons and tons of credit not just the Golden Knights but to Las Vegas in general.

They lost on home ice and whats the story? The Washington Capitals roaming Vegas with the Cup.

No riots, no violence, just impressive sportsmanship.
