I was already a fan of Herdman, but I have to say, when do we really start talking about him as a great coach?
I was skeptical of his lineup decisions last night...mainly Larin in for David...and then he scores two goals. I've heard that he is phenomenal in the dressing room, and he seems to be quite good tactically as well.

He has certainly figured out how to win in Concacaf. And he's united a team that has been in shambles for an embarrassingly long stretch of time.
If we got to Qatar, it'll be very interesting how we fare against teams from other confederations. Hopefully he's smart enough to set up some warmup friendlies against similar opponents to our group.

It will be interesting to see if he gets any interest from European leagues (mainly the EPL) if Canada qualify for the World Cup or have a surprise showing there.

Maybe not the EPL, but it's hard to think the Championship clubs (or that caliber) not having a look at him.

Probably the most impressive thing to me about these two wins was that Davies wasn't particularly great in either game. Obviously having a guy like him makes a huge difference on the field as you could see after he went out against Mexico but he wasn't saving an over-matched team.

He has no experience coaching league football, which is a week-in, week-out grind for months and months. He definitely knows how to get a team to buy in short-term and directly find weaknesses of the next opponent.

What would be the advantage for players to be in TO vs Vancouver?
Does he mean travel time? Coming from European club locations etc.

What a game. My ass is still frozen from sitting on those seats, but the atmosphere was electric! Being there to watch the crowd go nuts and the Mexican fans lose their #### / shut then their mouths / then leave early.... priceless.

Yes, coming from Europe and then trips to Honduras and El Salvador.

I don't understand the hard-on that they seem to have for Hamilton.

Canada plays in Honduras Jan 27 then hosts USA Jan 30, then back to El Salvador Feb 2.
Part of a day travel saved (times 2) plus only 1 hour time change (instead of 2) might play some small part when playing 3 games in 6 days

This was so much fun. Sitting next to the supporters section in row 2. Didn’t end up sitting down at all. My voice is gone today. Who cares about the cold.
Such a blast last night.

Maybe there's a few of Bob Young's dollars in there.

Yeah, its almost as though Canada stole that right out of the Mexican 'Time-Wasting' playbook, they do this and worse routinely...usually when they're winning and trying to see a game out. Usually chuckling at the frustration of their opponents.
Its not as much fun when that shoe is on the other foot...
Thats a shame. But not really.
What Mexico should do is appeal to FIFA and blame Team Canada for 'Cultural Appropriation.'
"Whining and diving and keeping the ball and wasting time and frustrating the opponent is what WE do! They cant take that from us!! What will they steal from Mexico next? Homophobic chants? Then they'll come for the Sombreros!"
Zero sympathy from me.
Canada is learning that to come out of CONCACAF you not only have to play the game...you have to 'Play the Game.'
Hence...Edmonton in November.

Was at the game too. The Mexican supporters were loud and shouting in Spanish to start, then started leaving with about 80 minutes to go. Not Canada's prettiest game, but a win over Mexico is absolutely astounding and a milestone in this team's improvement.
Alestair Johnston had a hell of a strike on the first goal (which was rebound-tipped in by Larin). That dude is such a rock on the backend, he's so so good.

At the moment Borjan's epic save is one on one TSN Challlenger against some stinky Oiler's goal which we've all seen ad nauseum. I'm trying to do my part to ensure that this bit of Canadian history doesn't get overshadowed but it's losing at 44% at the moment. Let's all do our part!

I thought that was a refereeing screwup initially....not hard to imagine because it seemed like it was that Ref's first day after Graduating from a Mexican Refereeing school.
However, the slow-motion replay showed just how brilliant a save that was.
That was Top-Shelf stuff.
