Jack Johnson
David Savard
Klingberg
Kronwall

Dumoulin
Maata
Vlasic ($7 Million Cap hit next year)
Paul Martin
Stralman
Jake Gardiner
Zaitsev
Tanev
Jason Garrison
Kulikov
From that list the only player I trade Brodie for is Josi.
I think Brodie has tremendous value around the league because of the skill set, skating and contract certainty for (essentially) 3 seasons. If he was traded his value would command a top line RW.
I don't think Marner alone gets it done.

Wow this is ridiculous.
You should try, y'know, watching some other teams play?
Wouldn't trade Brodie for Klingberg?
Other boards having a good laugh at CP with stuff like this.

What, so Giordano for Faulk? That's the only possible move I could see working out. I highly doubt that Carolina would trade Slavin for Giordano, and I doubt that the Flames would have much interest in anyone else, seeing as how a) Pesce isn't as good and shoots right and b) Hanifin, Fleury, and Bean are all super unproven.

This kind of stuff doesn't hep the discussion at all.
If you disagree, discuss why. Give examples. Compare the players and their skills.
Posts like yours aren't helping anything at all.

Do you ever stop to think about why you watch / cheer for the Flames and or even come to this site?
All you do is make drive-by self deprecating (as a supposed Flames fan) comments about the players and the organization as a whole.
Remember this gem?

Serious question, and this isn't just directed to just you, why does that matter? I hear this all the time. Who actually cares what other internet message boards think of this internet message board? I barely care what some posters on this board think. The last thing that matters to me in discussing my opinion of the Flames is what some random fan from another team on another board that I'll never read thinks.

I would not trade Brodie for Klingberg. Brodie can actually play some aspect of defence.

I would trade Brodie for Klingberg in a heartbeat, but I don't see why Dallas would want to trade away a promising defender who is on pace for 90 points.
Brodie might be better defensively, but Klingberg is becoming one of the best offensive defensemen in the league. That said, I would definitely miss Brodie during overtime.
And Tinordi is right. Most other fan bases would justifiably think we're silly for valuing Brodie over Klingberg. At the same time, most other fan bases would probably think Tinordi post was unnecessarily crude/immature. So whatever haha.

My point was that you’d be getting roughly the same produvtion from a dman as you would from a winger, not that points are the only thing that mattered.

WTF is going on in this thread?
If you're planning on trading away Hamilton, you'd better get back a forward who scores 30 goals a year on average and brings other qualities to the team that we have in short supply (like a young Wayne Simmonds). Short of that, you're wasting Dougie's trade value.
If you're trading Brodie, you likely need 1B/2A type of winger who can at least score 20 goals without breaking a sweat, and comes in at a comparable salary to Brodie. Otherwise, you're wasting Brodie's trade value.
Nobody is untouchable, but if you're going to make a trade, you really have to look at either improving the talent and team overall, or at least finding comparable talent at a different position. Don't make a trade just because you have a lot of depth at a certain position, especially defense.
You need at least 8 NHL quality defensemen to make it through a season. I think that we currently have 6.5 (Giordano, Hamilton, Brodie, Hamonic, Stone, Kulak, and maybe Andersson). I wouldn't be eager to trade away quality depth that was hard earned and acquired with quite a few assets. And don't count defensive prospects until they make the jump. Kulak has looked good for 2-3 years, and is only NOW solidifying a spot in the NHL.

Definitely not the issue with this team. Remember before the season started how many were boasting about the great offensive depth of this team? Actually we only have two lines. We need depth scoring - real depth.

I am surprised by the lack of scoring by Versteeg while not on the powerplay. I am sure it will turn around soon enough, since he can be very streaky.
I think the third line can start turning it around. Bennett-Jankowski-Jagr have promise, but it depends on the line's confidence on how they perform.

Klingberg is a disaster defensively. Brodie is absolutely the better player. Nice drive by though

Versteeg won't turn it around on the fourth line. He was only ever brought in to be a cheap producer on a scoring line. Last year that's where he was played and it worked.
It looks like he may have lost a step from last season, but certainly nothing will be salvaged for his season playing a checking role, it's not him. May as well see if another team wants him for a late pick if that's the plan for the whole year as we'd be way better off with Hathaway in that role.

No, saying you were jumping on the Oilers bandwagon after the Flames got eliminated by the Ducks makes you an Oilers fan. Or at least not a true Flames fan. I am pretty sure 99.9% of this board would not cheer for the Oilers no matter what let alone right after the Flames got bounced.
