The first is protected from the Miller trade. If Vancouver misses the playoffs they get Vancouver's 2021 1st

His speed will probably keep him effective until his mid-30s unless he runs into injury troubles. I like this a lot for Tampa.

What’s there to compare to Lucic/Neal swap?

I take it you saw the post I was responding to?

JT Miller for Blake Coleman? The salary cap sucks when you're a cup contender.

Miller and Foote for Coleman, which is essentially how the two transactions shake out, is a swap that looks worse on paper for Tampa than it is. Miller wasn't a good fit in a depth role playing under 15 minutes a night like he did last year. Coleman stands a better chance of being effective in that role. Similar to how Calgary looked to get the short end of the stick in the Lucic/Neal swap on paper but instead got a guy more tailored to their needs further down in the lineup.

Miller & Foote for Coleman, Mazanec, a third and 59 games played with neither forward.

Looks like a sellers market this year. Good bet that Tre sits on his hands.

Yikes. In some ways that’s pretty close to the return that they got for Hall.
Stay away from buying in that trade market if that’s the cost. Maybe look at selling.

Well, Coleman is the same age as Hall, plays center and has 7 more goals than Hall this year.

This could be part of the return for Johnny if he goes to the devils.
Its getting exciting at the prospect of selling. I fully expect tre to be a buyer.

Excited to trade for Toffoli and Martinez and win the division for the second year in a row before winning a couple rounds!

I think it's funny how all the fans of average Pacific division teams are drooling at the prospect of beating other as average Pacific teams so that they can be happy to finally win a round or 2.
A team Getting thumped by an actual contender quality playoff team will be quite a thing to watch in the western bracket of the playoffs.

Boy, I remember when I was younger and still had hope that this organization wasn’t a cynical, hopeless money grab that actually cared about winning more than it cared about making profits off first round playoff revenue.
Enjoy it while it lasts, Padawan.

Yeah that career high pace of 45 points is sure comparable to former Hart trophy winner Taylor Hall.
This is a great trade for the Devils IMO.
Coleman makes sense for Tampa due to his low cap hit but moving JT Miller (who is the better player IMO) for a 1st and a 3rd. Then moving that first, plus last years first in Nolan Foote who has had a good draft plus 1 season for a lesser player than what you moved out in the first place does not make much sense to me.
I like Coleman but it’s an overpay. Last off-season if they had moved JT Miller and their 2019 First for Blake Coleman and a Third round pick I think we’d all have been wondering what Tampa was smoking.
