If you can, go up to the neighbour with someone else. Don’t introduce them; let the third person introduce him/herself and wait for the neighbour to reply.

You need an elaborate plan involving a dog, a note, a dead body and a pen and paper. I can help you with the last four items, but you are going to have to provide the dog.

This is something I use all the time and it works like a charm.

Just be honest.

"Hey buddy! [Small talk might ensue for a few minutes]

Please forgive me, I'm really bad with names, what's your name again? I'll remember this time!!"

I find that when you're straight up and truthful, the other person sees that and appreciates it. They'll kindly say their name or rib you with a funny joke that you just gotta take.

Personally, if someone keeps calling me "dude, man, buddy" often, there's a good chance they forgot my name. People pick up on that stuff.

You might be overthinking the situation. If you don't talk to your neighbour often, may as well reintroduce yourself anyways

We’re terrible so the wife has started writing names down so we can remember or look it up.

I am so bad at remembering names I have just quit using them altogether, no generic pronouns either.

How does that work? You take photos of these people and write their names down, or do you just have a list of names? Also, when you see somebody, do you pull the list out and scan through it while they wait?

Sounds like the plot of One Hour Photo with Robin Williams, but more mundane.

She drew a map and linked names and who knows who and where the drama is.

The stories I could tell you about my neighbours. As the new people everyone wants you on their side. It’s actually comical.

My strategy is not to talk to them if at all possible.

Their newest offering even comes with a pithy inspirational slogan.

"Keep on Truckin'!"

Burn in Hell ULINE.

Burn. In. Hell.

I listened to ring of fire tonight. It made me happy and sad. Our world has changed, but I want our Flames back.

I was quite happy to see where the price of gasoline had dropped too. As I was filling my tank I realised it's not a great thing when you have nowhere to go.

It's not a great thing when you realize it's a sign of just how crippled our economy and government are. I'll happily pay $1.50 if it means we don't have to worry about money or jobs.
