I imagine a fairly low-scoring affair.

6-0 over Latvia at home. Getting a result in Poland will be a MUCH bigger task on Monday, but still, fun game.

And further, I'm glad the Germans got no benefit (other than the Pen and the goal but still lost) out of what has to have been the single worst 'hand-ball' penalty call I have ever seen.

I watched the Germany-Holland game off and on. Did not see a single goal

Canada kicking ass against Cuba so far . . . . Jonathan David with an incredible touch on the 2nd goal!

David has been living in relative anonymity in large part because of Phonzie but he is tearing it up for Gent, he could really be something special

Ohh...Les Francais....

Quote:
In an embarrassing mix-up, the wrong national anthem was played for Albania before it faced France in a European Championship qualifier on Saturday.

Players looked bemused as they realized it was the wrong anthem -- Andorra's.

Referee Jesus Gil Manzano waited several minutes for the right anthem to be played at Stade de France before starting the game.

Then, when the correct anthem was about to be played there was another embarrassing incident as the stadium announcer apologized to "Armenia's fans" and called on fans to respect the "Armenia national anthem" before realizing his glaring mistake and saying Albania.

I had to double check that it wasnt a spoof news article.

Armenia with more than just a hope to qualify. Nine points from six matches. Would be interesting to watch UEFA squirm if they get drawn into a match in Baku.

On a side note, the Italy - Finland game yesterday was a fun watch. Finns are passionate fans! That stadium was LOUD right until the very end, especially on Pukki's penalty goal.

Sizzling hot take, but Sterling-Kane-Sancho is England's best front line ever.

This is awful. Iran doesn't allow women into sporting stadiums, although as of August 31st they were to rescind that decision, and allow them.

I think this may be one of the few times FIFA will appropriately use their muscle, in penalizing the Iranians. Iran isn't in their inner circle, like the Qatari's, Russian's...

That is just awful.

I can understand (although I condemn) the culture of male domination and setting up wacky rules to keep women suppressed. What I can't understand is why they won't allow women into a stadium to consume entertainment, same as if they would on TV or radio. That's not giving them any sort of power or decision making ability. It makes no sense in the scope of men being the dominate sex.

Southgate leaves Lingard and Alli, at home. Right choice. Neither are producing.

The highly anticipated Australia vs Nepal Asian qualifier was a 5-0 win for the Roos. The joke is the Nepalese provided a tougher challenge for tender Matt Ryan than the Spurs did on Saturday.
